Girl kicked off plane for her outfit

Original post by Espo22

I saw this last friday, she was on good morning america and wore the outfit she had on the plane, she was told her outfit was inappropriate 'too sexy' she somehow was able to resolve it and after holding the plane up they let her fly. I saw the outfit and honestly it wasnt that bad, ive seen worst on a plane. The top she was covered, the bottom was a bit short but when going to florida or other warm places i wear real short shorts, last time we went this past summer i wore my camouflage skirt which is pretty short. I think its ridiculous...What do you all think?

Here is the outfit

I fly almost all the time- and have seen shorter & skimiper outfits. She wasn't exposed so I don't think she should have been thrown off- I think they blew it a bit out of proportion.

exactly, i mean if she wore lets say a bikini type top with boobs hanging out alot and something so short her a** cheeks were hanging out its different...have these ppl seen those who fly to the caribbean, you dont go dressed up, you wear whatever will be comfortable in that heat lol

I didn't know that these companies were so serious. I mean, I think she looks borderline $kank, but that's just me. If she thinks it's cool to wear that out in public, then why not wear it on a plane? I didn't know there was a dress code!

if she wasn't wearing the green sweater I would say something, but otherwise I think its just a cute outfit, I would wear it to work lol

but even just the dress, you think its bad for the plane? Ive seen girls going to cancun or some place like that with their bikini tops on already and just a small white tank over and little shorts, they prepare bc they get there early and cant check in for a bit at their hotel so have their bathing suits on. And in Miami i see girls getting on planes with their stomachs showing.

I thought you were meaning she worked for the aireline as a flight attendant, I didn't realize she was actually flying on the plane as a passenger, thats ridiculous!!

I think it's ridiculous. She's covered up even though her skirt is really short but who cares? It's not like she tried to get on the plane in a bikini top & a thong lol. It's normal clothes. I've had students walk into my classroom wearing less than that (I threw them out but that's high school not an airplane!)

i didnt think it was bad at all...i wouldnt wear it bc i freeze on planes but i wear..well used to wear...skirts that short always!!!

they just were mad bc she had a hot bod!!!

it was probably a female flight attendant who was jealous!

It was actually a male that told her that she's dressed inappropriately and that this is a 'family airline'.

They're insane. No way can you tell ppl what to wear. The girl said it was 104 degrees that day.

If you have it, flaunt it!

The airline is insane for backing up that idiotic male flight attendant. They refused to apologize for what they did to her. I really hope she goes to court with this and win. There is no way they can tell her what to wear. There is no dress code on airlines. I've seen much worse on flights from LA, MIAMI and Puerto Rico.

People shouldn't complain either. If you don't like it - don't look.
If your perfume bothers me - should you be told to leave the flight also? Ridiculous. She paid the same amount of money for that ticket as did everyone else and should be treated with the same respect.

wow.. that's crazy! i don't think there was anything wrong with what she was wearing.. i've worn worse ..lol. i think it's more innapropriate of the airline to try and tell people what they can and can not wear... i guess these people have never walked the streets of manhattan..they must all live in a bubble is they think that's too sexy..lol.

I think as long as your non no's are covered up, who cares? Who has the right to tell another person what is an appropriate outfit?

Im sure southwest did this for publicity because after watching the show Airline on A&E I would never ever fly with them.

its stupid bc that would make ppl not want to fly with them. The girl is suing i think, she had her lawyer with her on the show and they were looking at what measures they can take now

Re: Girl kicked off plane for her outfit

Here is the whole story:
It doesn’t take much to get thrown off an airplane these days, as Kyla Ebbert found out when a Southwest Airlines employee told her she was too bare for the air. Two months later, she’s still trying to figure out what was wrong with her outfit.

In an exclusive appearance Friday on TODAY, Ebbert modeled the outfit she says she wore on the flight in question. It consisted of a snug-fitting white top with a scoop neck that stopped just short of showing cleavage.

Over the shirt was a green sweater that buttoned underneath her bosom. It was finished with high-heeled sandals and a white denim mini-skirt with a fashionably frayed hem.

It was a lot more clothing than the 23-year-old college student wears on her job as a Hooters waitress. Her mother, Michele Ebbert, said she would have told her daughter if the outfit was inappropriate.

“But her outfit is fine, Michele Ebbert told TODAY co-host Matt Lauer. “She looks like every other college girl in San Diego.”

Not according to a Southwest employee identified only as “Keith,” who approached Ebbert after she had taken her seat on the plane and was listening to the flight attendants go through their pre-departure routine.

He asked her to step off of the plane and when they were in the jetway, he told her that her clothing was inappropriate and asked her to change her clothes.

“He told me, ‘I’m sorry, but you’re going to have to take a later flight. You’re dressed inappropriately. This is a family airline. You’re dressed too provocative to fly on this flight,’ ” she told Lauer.

I said, ‘What part of it, the shirt, the skirt? Which part?’ “ Ebbert continued, recounting her conversation with Keith about her outfit. “And he said, ‘The whole thing.’“ I said, ‘I didn’t bring any luggage with me. I don’t have anything to change into. What can I do to make sure I can get onto that flight?’ I had a doctor’s appointment. I had to be there.”

“He said ‘You can go to the gift shop and you can buy something to wear there. Until then, you’re not flying on this flight,’ ” Ebbert said.

A compromise was finally reached when Ebbert promised to pull up her top, which wasn’t showing cleavage to begin with, and pull down her tiny skirt.

Ebbert went back onto the plane and to her seat, feeling that every eye on the plane was staring at her.

“I was humiliated. I was embarrassed. They all heard him lecturing me,” she said.

She asked for a blanket, covered her legs, and cried quietly all the way to Tucson. When she got off the plane, she called her mother.

“She was just devastated,” Michele told Lauer. “She said, ‘Mom, I can’t believe what just happened to me.’ She was. She said ‘I didn’t want to make a scene. I didn’t want to draw attention. I just sat there crying.’ ”

No apology
When Michele saw a picture her daughter emailed from her cell phone, she couldn’t believe what had happened. She also thought to herself, “Oh, no. They don’t do this and get away with it.”

The San Diego Union-Tribune called Southwest Airlines and asked if the airline had a dress code. Could, for example, a woman board wearing a bikini top?

The newspaper on Tuesday quoted the Southwest agent it spoke with as saying, “We don't have a problem with it if she's covered up in all the right spots. We don't have a dress code.”

The Ebberts had not gone public with the story, which happened two months ago, asking only for an apology from the airline. But none was forthcoming.

In response to a TODAY Show query, the airline sent the following statement: 'Southwest Airlines was responding to a concern about Ms. Ebbert's revealing attire on the flight that day. As a compromise, we asked her to adjust her clothing to be less revealing, she complied, and she traveled as scheduled. When a concern is brought to our Employees' attention, we address that situation directly with the Customer(s) involved in a discreet and professional manner. Fortunately, as an airline that carries approximately 96 million Customers a year, these situations are extremely rare.'

The Ebberts have engaged an attorney, Martin Reed, to help them decide what to do next.

Asked if he will file suit, Reed told Lauer, “We’ve not made that decision, yet. We’re considering all the facts and all the circumstances.”

“Initially, I just wanted an apology,” Kyla told Lauer. “At this point, just some acknowledgement that they were wrong. That would be better.”

What really tops the whole story off is that Ebbert wore the same outfit on the return flight to San Diego later that day. A female flight attendant also took note of it, according to Ebbert.

“I was complimented by the stewardess on my return flight,” she said.

And the crazy thing is that she's flown southwest about 100 times this YEAR she said - apparently she has a medical condition and has to fly to see her doctor constantly.

And how dumb is he for just telling her to leave the flight? SHE was the one that suggested she covers herself up with a blanket - why didn't he just suggest that?

i heard about this on the radio. They also said that it was a male flight attendant that kicked her off. Whether that is true or not I dont know but maybe he really said that it was a ' Family Airline' because he wanted her phone number!

Truthfully, I have seen a lot worse on planes and my sister is a flight attendant and she said her airline wouldnt of said anything and her outfit was fine

Re: Girl kicked off plane for her outfit

The show is crazy!! They stop people from flying for the dumbest reasons. If they smell alcohol on your breathe they wont let you fly even if u dont appear to be intoxicated.

Thank goodness everytime I have flown southwest has never come up in my searches for airfare.

If they were giving away free flights I wouldn't take it.
