Is anyone working out their birth control in order to make sure that they won't have their period or PMS the weekend of their wedding? I'm worried about weight gain and being extra emotional b/c my period is due then. If I take the pill through it though, won't that cause me to retain water and be bloated? Hmmm...what should I do?

Re: girl question
I started taking it to throw my cycle off a week because I was due the week of the honeymoon
However I had to stop taking it after the second month because it messed my cycle up sooooooooooooooo bad
I would recommend talking to your doctor about what you should do.

Re: girl question
I just started taking thwm again, and planned it so I will be done with it 5 days before the wedding. That way I am ok for the honeymoon, too. I was told to skip a period you just skip the green pills at the end and start a new pack instead.

Re: girl question
I was planning on going from one pill pack to the next but I lucked out and my period will be over about 5 or 6 days before the wedding.

Re: girl question
it depends on what pills you're on, but I've done this a bunch of times. People react differently to it (I had no side effects), but you should ask your doc the proper procedure for your pills and do it a few months in advance.

Re: girl question
generally, I only take a week of the next pack and then stop. Pushing it off for a week, rather than skipping for a whole month.
i've been charting my period since we got engaged!!! i am in the clear.
one thing i will warn you guys - last year for vacation i wanted to skip my period, so i skipped the white pills and started a new pack. i was okay for the vacation, but a week later i got my period for 15 straight days if you have never skipped a period before, your body may react strangely, just be careful!!! give yourself plenty of time for your cycle to straighten back out!!

Re: girl question
I was thinking the same thing last night. I lucked out, well, not really... a few months ago my pharmasist ran out of pills and had to wait for a new order So instead of picking up the perscription and bringing it somewhere else I was lazy and picked them up when they came in. Then instead of waiting I just started the pack. I don't suggest this because you need to be very careful...but it worked. I am scheduled to take my last pill onthe last day of my Honeymoon. Mediclally, who knows, but i didn't notice any change in my cycle, except for the dates.

Re: girl question
I recently went on a cruise where I didn't want to have my period so I skipped the green pills and went right onto the new pack. It worked just fine but I would suggest doing that a few months before the wedding just in case...Changing your whole cycle.

Re: girl question
If you charted your period and are due during the wedding or honeymoon and want to skip, plan by skipping however many periods NOW so if your body has any reactions, you react now, not then. That's what I did. In Sept I figured I'd have my period during the honeymoond. I calcualted how many I'd have to skip so that I had it the week BEFORE the wedding (two periods) so I skipped in September and October. Now I am back on track, and don't have any adverse reactions.
But if you are unsure, DEFINITELY talk to your doctor. S/He is familiar with your body and your medication.

Am I the only one who figure out when 'that time' is going to be before I booked my church...???
Nothing like planning ahead!

Re: girl question
I went straight from one pack to the other without taking the placebos last year for my vacation. I had no side effects (like bloating), however it took about 3 mohths for my cycle to return to normal!!! Ask your gyno what he/she recommends.

Re: girl question
i just did this this month, i skipped the green pills and started a new pack. so far no side affects. i didn't talk to my doctor b/c i don't really have one. i see someone different every year. anyway, if you're unsure or have had other side affects from the pill you might want to check first. but i read a lot of articles on this topic and some say that it really is unhealthy for women to have their period every month! imagine that. anwyay...

Re: girl question
I have been on the pill for almost 2 years now and on various ones as well. I noticed that on one particular brand I was very emotional, very moody and lost my appiete and ending up losing about 7 to 8lbs. Once I switched I saw a complete change in my hormones for the better. You shouldn't notice a change in your period when you first go on it, but as far as not wanting it on your honeymoon or for your wedding day all you have to do is continue on the next pack. So once you finish all your prescribition pills and you are up to your sugar or iron pills, start with a new pack of prescribition. The only thing I would do is do it for one to two cycles before your wedding because i tried it on vacation last year and i ended up spotting the whole time, my body needed to adjust. If you have any other questions ask your doctor. Also, it is very important that your doctor know if you deceide to stop taking the pill.
