Girl who called Z100 this morning about East Wind! Please Read.

Original post by babybug631

You're in-laws are being ridiculous!! Ronkonkoma to Wading River is not a long distance to drive. I had family coming from Brooklyn, Staten Island, and Jersey out to Bayport. DO NOT concern yourself with this. Everyone has had to travel to a wedding at some point in their life. You do it because you care about that person and you want to celebrate with them.

I think it's so ridulous that you all take such offense. You're not getting my point. I am not so annoyed that I won't go to the wedding. I just don't understand the thought process of having a holiday weekend wedding. I don't care what anyone says, if I don't get a lot of time off from work, those weekends are like goldmines. However, I care so much about my cousin, I would never miss her wedding. I would NEVER tell her or anyone in the family that I am annoyed.

I'm sorry that I offended so many brides, but I was just giving my opinion. If you don't like it, oh well, we don't see eye-to-eye. We don't have to.

I think sometimes we as brides have the tendency to think we and our wedding is the center of the universe. I personally would not have a wedding on a holiday weekend.

And not-for-nothing, but a bunch of girls on this website said some bad things about my hall, which I happen to love. And I let it roll off my back because I know that we all have different tastes and different ways of thinking. I didn't attack them and try to tell them how horrible they are for not liking my hall, they don't have to.

You girls need to get a grip and stop taking things so personally. And I am a LIW girl, not from Z100. As you can see I've been a member for a while now. I just don't post much. But I do read a lot and I can see just how catty you girls get sometimes.

I see that your date is december 10th, don't you think that can be an inconvenience to some of your guest because it is so close to the holidays. People have shopping to do, decorating to do on the weekends because they are working during the week. I think, it was the way you stated how you were annoyed about your cousins wedding. If you were really excited about her wedding I don't think you would have been annoyed.

Like I said, people don't have to like that I got married just before the holidays. I wanted a Christmas wedding and I was happy.

Are you ALWAYS really excited about every wedding you go to? I'm not. Only the people that really matter in my life do I get really excited about. The way I stated it was short and to the point. I don't beat around the bush.

i'm gald i missed this, this person sounds insane! weddings happen on holiday weekends and people travel, often at the same time! why the hell does z100 think they are the authority.

we traveled from farmingdale to east wind and we also traveled from baldwin to aquebogue, no complaints here, and the aqueboque wedding was on a thursday!

i don't get people

Heaven Forbid! Nuptuals on a THURSDAY!

ahhh breathe in the ignorance

But Shorty..... I'm getting married on a Thursday!!!!

I even asked the 'Important' people if they would come before we made the decision, and I was told by everyone, that I shouldn't even ask such a question, b/c they love both of us, and wouldn't miss it for the world.. They told me to get married on a Tuesday and they would be there!!!

FH and I picked a Thursday, b/c it's before a holiday and we got a lower min, and b/c we are paying for everything ourselves.... In my opinion, if you think my date is inconvenient help contribute to make it more convenient for you!!!

I think as usual this is getting blown wayyyyy out of proportion and people are taking way too much offense to it.

I listen to z100 every morning on the way to work and although I didnt agree with them on some points, they are entitled to their opinion.

For those that say they dont listen to them anyway.....who cares what they say then!

I think a mountain is made out of a mole hill.

We need to go back to worrying about our own weddings and not beeotching about what other people say.

Everyone has opinions on weddings, some people might complain about holiday weekends, others about the food, the time etc... its all relative.

Is it really that offensive that someone stated she was annoyed about going to a wedding on a holiday weekend? I took it as more of a vent about wanting to go away/have a long weekend with no commitments than a jab at all brides who get married on holiday weekends. It's not like she said 'holiday weekend weddings are stupid' or 'I can't believe anyone would choose to get married on a holiday weekend.' She merely stated that it interfered with prior plans and she looked forward to a long weekend with no commitments. People have said a lot more offensive things on this board.

I got married on a Sunday morning. I'm sure people were annoyed by it, but I didn't care what they thought. If they had a problem with the date and time, they didn't have to come. My BMs complained about having to wake up so early to get their hair done. They did it anyway b/c they cared about me and wanted to be part of our day. DH and I had a wonderful time at our wedding, and that's all that really mattered.

Someone will always have a problem with the date and time you choose, whether it's a holiday weekend, a Friday night, or a Sunday. If they care about you, they will come and have a great time. If they would rather go away for the weekend than share in your special day, it's their loss.

I totally agree with this. Everyone needs to relax and realize that this was someones opinion, ust like everyone here has an opinion. SHeesh.

I am sure I have decided to comment alittle too late (my job is at odd hours so I always miss the fun) ..

As a bride who is getting married on the Monday of 4th of July I really DO NOT CARE one iota if someone is annoyed or doesn't want to come. As a matter of fact I welcome a couple of regretful declines (less money I have to dish out and more room on the dance floor for me and my awesome friends and family)
I know that the timing is a tad on the inconvenient side, but oh well...marrying frank is the only thing I am concerned about and all the guests who can make it are just icing on the cake.

As for the brides who enjoy stirring the pot, whatever..I love a good drama thread! (as long as I know my opinion is the right one... )

Ok...now I am caught up on this...I have to say that the people are Z-100 IMO may or may not be voicing their true opinions...what I mean by that is they need to do a radio show...if its not controversial no one will talk about it...I think each of them takes a side and debates that side even though it may or may not be their REAL opinion....in a way they are kind of acting..

Example..Greg T is really married...they tell you that he only has a girlfriend..WHY?? That would ruin his boyish frat boy image!

By the way I am IN NO WAY defending them BUT I think this is the reality of talk radio

I so agree. I got married September 4, 2005 and I am sure some of our guests complained about the timing but in all fairness everyone is entitled to their opinions. I know for a fact that I have received invitations to weddings and of course I have muttered about the date and the time but in the end I still go to show my support. Yes, complaints are relative when it comes to weddings. It is a part of the whole fiasco. As a bride I have learned to give and take and not for a moment think that everyone has to roll out the red carpet for me.

I could care less if people like or dislike holiday weekend weddings! That is what FH & I chose and we are more than happy with our decision. I even commented that I completely understand how one would be a little 'annoyed' about having to give up an extended weekend. What bothered me was that ILUVRS said that unless it is cheaper for a holiday weekend, or an anniversary falls on that date, no one should get married on a holiday weekend. That is what bothered me! I would NEVER say that about someone else's date, place, time, vendor for DJ, photo's, video, etc., so I was shocked when I read that statement 'no one should pick a holiday weekend'. That is why I keep posting that it is one thing to state your opinion (that is what this site is about and I truly respect all LIW opinions), but to take it to another level and make a rude dig at some brides, that is inconsiderate!

That is how I feel about the situation and to be honest with everyone I am over it and I am moving on. 's for ALL my LIW girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UNLESS your in the others person position....DONT say a word about when, where, time they decided to plan the wedding...No ones business but the bride and groom...
We didnt get married on a holiday weekend,,but we did get married on a Sunday night. We wanted a Saturday night in October...the next Saturday night wasnt until November 26th. Didnt want to wait so we settled. I am more than sure some guests complained..Did I care..NOPE! I have done my share of traveling for others weddings on Friday, Saturday and Sunday's.. and if they want to share the day with us,,they were going to attend regardles of what day and time our wedding was...

IF going to a wedding has become a chore for you,,then RSVP NO for now on...do everyone a favor and save the bride and groom 200 bucks!!!!!!!

So true Ro!!!

Wow, no wonder 90 people replied NO to my Thanksgiving weekend wedding...Guess my wedding was a BIG inconvenience for them but heck I married my best friend on that day and that's all that matters to me but they missed one hell of a wedding thats for sure
