Girl who called Z100 this morning about East Wind! Please Read.

Original post by babybug631

You're in-laws are being ridiculous!! Ronkonkoma to Wading River is not a long distance to drive. I had family coming from Brooklyn, Staten Island, and Jersey out to Bayport. DO NOT concern yourself with this. Everyone has had to travel to a wedding at some point in their life. You do it because you care about that person and you want to celebrate with them.

I was listening this morning to see if they would talk about it. They must've talked about it before I got in the car though.

I want to know what they said as I'm sure I was one of the people they were mocking!

oh, and while we're at it....who has a gripe about people that have babies during the week!?!?!

What a huuuuuge inconvenience

I'm sorry. Were you trying to make a point? Are you comparing giving birth, which is totally random, to planning a wedding?

I just read through this thread and I think it needs to go! I honestly never understand why people always fight with each other on this board. You don't know each other for the most part and everyone has an opinion. There is a polite way to disagree and no one should condemn a person for their opinion, whether they are a radio personality, a bride to be, or a relative. You picked your day because you wanted your wedding to be on that day and I can guarantee that someone will have something to say about it-- it is too far away, the time, the day, etc... If it is really inconvenient to them, either they will not come or they will leave early. However, if they really love you, they will be there! Everyone really needs to stop getting caught up in each others drama and realize the point of this website-- to plan and share in the joy of each others weddings! The fights are really pointless. As the saying goes, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all and let it go.

UNLESS your in the others person position....DONT say a word about when, where, time they decided to plan the wedding...No ones business but the bride and groom...
We didnt get married on a holiday weekend,,but we did get married on a Sunday night. We wanted a Saturday night in October...the next Saturday night wasnt until November 26th. Didnt want to wait so we settled. I am more than sure some guests complained..Did I care..NOPE! I have done my share of traveling for others weddings on Friday, Saturday and Sunday's.. and if they want to share the day with us,,they were going to attend regardles of what day and time our wedding was...

IF going to a wedding has become a chore for you,,then RSVP NO for now on...do everyone a favor and save the bride and groom 200 bucks!!!!!!!

this probably makes the most sense out of everything I've read. It shouldn't be a chore, and if things are more important to you, DO them.

I want only the guests that truly WANT to share my day with me to be there...save the OBLIGATORY YES for someone else...and save me the cost of your plate.

I turned on the radio when they had already started discussing this. I didn't realize they were only going from Ronkonkoma to Wading River! That's not that far at all!! I don't understand what the family is even complaining about. I feel like when all is said and done they will be there.

P.S. The DJs upset me when they were saying how much they hate when people plan weddings on holiday weekends and how Danielle told her mother to RSVP 'No' to a wedding just because it was on Labor Day weekend. I know I shouldn't even care what they think, especially considering that's what the discussion was about this morning ... but I didn't plan my wedding for 9/2 to get a discount Danielle! Ugh...

those z100 DJs need a reality check...i didn't hear it cause i refuse to listen to them after seeing/meeting that carolina chick at the swan club....ewww. everyone knows the joke, they're on radio cause they're too ugly for TV...well, it's true. DJs tend to be hideous and Z100 is no exception. they have all this 'power' b/c they are on the radio and can hook you up with free tickets....but in reality, they create all the drama that makes that little girl in pigtails feel ugly and stupid at 8 because some other girl with more money or friends learns to be mean to those with less like the DJs....and a lot of the time, i think they make stuff up just to keep people listening. and those phone cranks or whatever...those should STOP...someone is really going to call the police or get hurt one day...then they'll learn

I think it's so ridulous that you all take such offense. You're not getting my point. I am not so annoyed that I won't go to the wedding. I just don't understand the thought process of having a holiday weekend wedding. I don't care what anyone says, if I don't get a lot of time off from work, those weekends are like goldmines. However, I care so much about my cousin, I would never miss her wedding. I would NEVER tell her or anyone in the family that I am annoyed.

I'm sorry that I offended so many brides, but I was just giving my opinion. If you don't like it, oh well, we don't see eye-to-eye. We don't have to.

I think sometimes we as brides have the tendency to think we and our wedding is the center of the universe. I personally would not have a wedding on a holiday weekend.

And not-for-nothing, but a bunch of girls on this website said some bad things about my hall, which I happen to love. And I let it roll off my back because I know that we all have different tastes and different ways of thinking. I didn't attack them and try to tell them how horrible they are for not liking my hall, they don't have to.

You girls need to get a grip and stop taking things so personally. And I am a LIW girl, not from Z100. As you can see I've been a member for a while now. I just don't post much. But I do read a lot and I can see just how catty you girls get sometimes.

I really think this thread should die, but at the same time, here I am adding my $.02 to the pot. Oh well, here goes. I, too, get very limited time off from work, very few holidays and NO paid sick/vacation days. However, I appreciate the long weekend weddings, because I often have to travel out of town for them. The last two weddings I attended were on 4th of July and Labor Day weekends. For one I traveled from CA to NY and the other drove from NY to Toronto. If these weddings had been on a regular weekend I would have had to take time off from work, but since they were on the Sunday of long weekends I was able to travel, be at the wedding, enjoy myself and travel home the next day without missing a day of work. Everyone is entitled to feel however they want about our choices - just keep in mind (not just ILUVRS, everyone) that what is inconvenient for one person may be a lifesaver for another.

To anyone that complains that a wedding is on a Holidy Weekend:

If that's the biggest problem in your life - choosing between a wedding and getting boozed up at a BBQ or at the beach - can I be you for just one day??? Please?

This is what VACATION and PERSONAL DAYS are for....There are other times of the year that you can 'go away' besides LABOR, MEMORIAL, FOURTH OF JULY, ETC...

And seriously, going away on Memorial/Labor Day isn't really celebrating the 'Holiday' if you're going to the Beach or a BBQ...aren't those days really about remembering important times in our history of Our Country? Shouldn't you be going to a museum, lecture, or fundraiser if you're that 'gung-ho' about the HOLIDAY?

I didn't hear what they were saying in Z100 this morning (I got a late start this morning) but all I can say is Ronkonkoma to Wading River isnt bad at all!!!! My wedding will take place in Smithtown and the reception is in Baiting Hollow....about 5 minutes from the East Wind.

that's a very nice way to look at it... i do the same thing, try to find the silver lining and i agree with you-- i happen to think they are very nice and it's fun to make a little vaca out of them where you wouldn't be able to if it was not a holiday. that's a very good point.

yep i have to agree again-- i posted the same thing earlier, i actually loved the drive to giorgio's for my cousin's wedding (i live in smithtown too)-- it was so relaxing and scenic with the windows opened and some billy joel on the radio

great choice in giorgio's btw-- loved it!!

i think just as much as some brides feel having ah holiday wedding is reasonable, there are goign to be some ppl that don't appreciate that. after reading all the posts, i can appreciate but not agree with those opinions. the world is a big place and it takes all kinds really to make it turn.

we shouldnt' get catty and put down a person's minority opinion. i mean it's their opinion they are entitled to it. with wedding planning, i've learnd you can never make everyoen happy and you shodult' strive to. because in the end, you're damned if you do, you're damned if you don't. whoever will want to be there for your big day,, will be and they wont' complain and feel put out. if they do, then they are not really ppl worth having in your close circle in life and you shoudlnt' waste time worrying about it.

Um. Actually I had more important plans than getting boozed up at a beach or BBQ, but I appreciate that you assume that I would act like you.

Here is the problem. People like you assume you know everything and make incorrect assumptions about people. How do you know what kind of vacation time I get or what I do with my time? You have no clue. So stop acting like it.
