girlies...i need ur help!!!!!!!!!!! please!!!

ok..so i want to ask my boss for a raise...what do i say???

Oh, I was just giving my sister this advice.

The first question is - what type of place do you work in. I think it's different.

Basically, you need to be able to come up with reasons why you deserve a raise.

In my sister's case, she is a professional working in an office.

I told her that she needs to speak to her boss and say 'when you have time I would like to go over some things about my career path with you.' Something that doesn't come right out and say 'I want a raise' - but it does let them know you would like some time - more than just a 2 minute chat. When you do this, be ready if she says 'oh, sit down right now.'

You need to outline why you are an assett to the company. Know when you got your last raise (if ever), and what you have imrpoved on since then.

Things like 'well gas costs too much and I am trying to plan a wedding' are not really valid reasons. It is not your bosses fault - so you want to avoid mentioning things like that. But you can mention generally that the cost of living is going up.

Research on PayScale.Com. I think that is the website. Anyways, list all your accomplishments and have all these points ready before talking to your boss. He or she may say 'why should I give you this raise?' So, you have to be prepared. Good luck. You really have nothing to lose.

I hate that time of the year....its always weird. I did it last year and i practiced and practiced my dialogue, made a report of everything I do and printed out my last review.

I scheduled some time to speak and it was in casual conversation, i stated my case and it was done....my boss was sincere w/ me and knew all the hard work i put in and it was done.

As hard as it may be, you have to feel comfortable about the convo and also...catch them on a good day
