Girls getting married in a Catholic Church....does anyone know?

Problem. I am not Catholic, FH is. We booked our church, All he needed from me was my baptism certificate. Well, my parents cannot find it in their house. I was definitely baptized, we have pictures to prove it lol. My parents were moving around this time soon after I was born so we think it may have gotten shoved somehwere it shouldn't have.

Ok, so we call up the church my brother and I were baptized in (my parents old church) to have them send us anothe copy and THEY can't find it. They couldn't find my brothers either, but then after a few days they found my brother's. Mine is still missing

So..... I don't know what to do!!!! I am afraid to call and ask. Our priest is very 'cool' and down to earth, do you think he will let me slide if I show him photos? Or is it a rule he can't bend? Will I have to get re-baptized, do they even let you do that?? Lol. I'm nervous, I love this church and I don't know what they are going to say.... does anyone know anything about this?

i think it depends on the priest and the church.... i know my church you need all the documentation... i would bite the bullet and call to see..... I dont think you have to get rebaptized unless you wanted to do it in a Catholic church

Well, do they remember the church you were Baptist?
If they do just go there and paid for a copy...it should only cost five dollars

I was baptized in a different church and all I had to do was have that church send a paper stating that I was baptized there on such and such date with the churches seal. It wasntt the actual certificate from 1977...can you get that?

SAME exact thing happened to me, im also not catholic but got married in a catholic church. They needed my baptismal certificate but it couldn't be found. The church also couldn't find it we had to prove it to the priest. WE brought in pics of me getting baptised in the church so they can see the priest who baptised me. They had to make up a new one for me

Hmmm.... we do have photos but I don't know if we have any of the actual action of me getting baptized, just afterward. Crap. I'll tell my mom to start pulling out the baby albums lol.

Ok- so there is hope maybe! Like I said our priest is pretty lax and he didn't seem to concerned with everything, FH had all his documents and he just said 'send me a copy of yours whenever.' so maybe we can work around it? Ahhh

I actually had the same problem but with my confirmation certificate. They had no record that I even did my confirmation at the church that I use to attend when I was younger. I actually sent the clergy lady a picture of my confirmation and she was able to reisue my certificate. It's not an actual record, but its something and now I have proof. I wouldnt worry to much about it...esp, if your priest is not strict.

I thought I couldn't find mine.. and my priest said that he would be able to baptize me at this age again lol ... but thank goodness- my mother eventually found it- but whether you can find it or not, you should be fine. If he's cool, he'll understand. My priest is cool too... he's young and is down to earth. Good luck!!!
