For anyone who is going to st lucia --- and were flying Air Jamaica...
our travel agent just called us and told us that Air Jamaica is no longer flying into St Lucia and that we now dont have a flight to our honeymoon!!!!
She is looking to find us somethign else but i wanted to know if this happened to anyone esle?

Yes this happened to us. You can still fly American Airlines if you want to still go to St. Lucia. We changed our HM altoether b/c the airfare would have been another 160 and we were already WAY over budget!!

Yep - happened to me. We booked the American Airlines flight instead - cost us a little more (the worse part was we had to pay it immediately to book the flight) but the prices were going up so we got it just in time. What a pain in the A$$

when did you guys find out? we only found out on saturday and that was because my FH had called up to make the FINAL PAYMENT - and we had already paid the airfare in full back 6 months ago!

Air Jamaica is NOTORIOS and well known in the industry as the absolute worst airline! THey cancel flights without notifying passengers, they are very late and as far as service are terrible. Go to epinions.com to read travelers stories. I'm sorry that you have to deal with changing plans now and finding an alternate flight, but I think you're very lucky to have found out now instead of hte day before or while you're there with no return option (as has happened to actual people). I know it'll work out in the end!

YES THIS HAPPENED TO US TO - AND WE ARE VERY UPSET - They switched us to Delta but coming home we have to take a small 'prop' plane to Barbados then another plane to Granada (sp) then a plane to JFK And no one even told us - we found out from this posting

On our HM we flew AA. We had to change planes in Puerto Rico but it was SO worth it because we landed in George Charles Inter Island Airport is just outside Castries which is only 15 minutes from the Sandals Resorts. The other airport, which is at the other end of the island is Hewanorra International Airport at Vieux Fort is located 40 miles south of Castries and about 1 hour from the resorts.
Flying AA was more money but worth it to me not having to take that horrible shuttle ride. In fact, on out last trip to St. Lucia we had to fly into Hewanorra (last minute change in flights)and we ended up taking the helicopter shuttle to the resort because I could not handle that shuttle ride. The helicopter ride was fantastic.

The Honeymoon is probably the only trip that I would buy travel insurance for. Murphy's law - something like this always happens when you least want it to...
That totally *****. I'hope you all make it to St. Lucia and have a wonderful honeymoon despite it all.
Maybe your travel agent can add a note to your PNR explaining what happened and the new airline customer service rep will feel sympathy and give you an upgrade? Hey it can't hurt to try!

im not sure what exactly is going on with us we only found out when my FH went to make the final payment and then our tracel agent brought this up - she never called us like it seems all of yours did.
we had already paid for our flight in full about 6 months ago - we also purchased trip insurance
the travel agent said she see what she can do but im not sure what that means....
any ideas?

It sounds like you need to press on her. The last thing you want is for the airlines to get booked up. The insurance will only get you a refund. There's nothing you can do if there's no room on the plane. Hate to say it but your travel agent may not be rushing because you already paid in full.

Ok, I just spoke to my travel agent and she called teh tour director and he claims that people will not be contacted until their flight date gets closer! I said to my travel agent that I will not pay in full for my HM until I'm guarenteed a flight. So she said she is going to gather all the information and email me. So all of you that haven't gotten a phone call i would call yourself before you pay in full for your trip.
I still can not believe that people are calling one by one by their flight date! That is so inconsiderate. Sorry just angry.

What travel agent are you using? My bestfriend is a wholesale travel agent(where your agent goes to get deals)maybe I could ask her for you, I dont know if it's possible but maybe you could go through her directly. FM and let me know. This is horrible!
