where are you putting the wording on the invite? and how are you wording it?
working on the invites now with 'her' and need some inspiration--- partly because my reception and ceremony are at the same place so i will not have a seperate 'reception card' for the invites.
thanks ladies!

Re: girls having a formal/black tie affair????
My sister had a black tie optional, and her ceremony was at the RH and they just put 'Black Tie Optional' on the bottom of her invitation in the corner.

Re: girls having a formal/black tie affair????
our wedding was black tie, which we indicated on the bottom of our invite.
it's typically on the bottom right, but due to our design, we included it on the bottom left

I think we are going to put 'Black Tie Welcomed' - my fiance seems to like that better than 'Black Tie Optional'

Re: girls having a formal/black tie affair????
Interesting Point---
I bought a book for my mom for Christmas called, 'Its her wedding but I'll cry if I want to' and its written for the MOB by a former MOB/event planner. I read it this weekend before I will give it to her...
In the book she states that you should always put 'black tie optional' on an invite, because the trend of the general public has been becoming more casual and this will tell people that, Hey! Don't wear flip flops to my wedding, we're spending a lot of money, dress appropriately.
I never heard of that before, and I found it interesting. She was saying that people typically won't rent a tux or wear a ballgown, but that seeing black tie optional will tell people you expect them to dress up.
I hadn't even thought of doing something like that... although I'm having a day wedding and I don't want to seem over the top...

We're writing 'Black tie preferred' on the reception card, but in your case, I'd put it on the bottom right of the invite.
