My FMIL told me that when a couple gets engaged they are supposed to send out annoucements and then people send gifts. Is this true??
I was wondering what is proper, i wanted to get E-pics done soon, but not sure how to incorporate them. I definately want to do save the dates but i feel like its too soon to send those out for a june 08 wedding. Thanks GIRLS!

i sent out anouncements a month after we got engaged!
Oh I never sent out engagement announcements either..I didn't know people do that...oh well..I think it may be a little late now..considering i got engaged in July

see we sent them out since were not having an e-party so it was to let all the extened family know that we are not engaged!

I am sending out my STD with the chrismas cards. We have been engaged for seven months now. Hopefully i'll get some gifts.

yes mam'..some did some didnt some called to see if there would be an e-party.. we just said no.. and they sent what they would have given at a party... i thought they came out great i took our fav. pic from superbowl a few years ago.. took it to target and made 100 of them for like 35 bucks!

OOOOOOO we are definately having an E-party. So i guess we will just send out invites for that, when we decide when it will be this stuff is so confusing, FMIL has her thoughts on what is traditional, but she knows me and her son are doing everything backwards...but she totally understands, i think she was just trying to guide me a bit.

thanks... i dont think its necessary to send them out if your having a party since they are going to find out that ur engaged when they get the invite... JMO

Yeah, I didn't send out announcements because of the e party. I was at first just going to send the invitations to the people who are invited to the eparty, but my mom said to send them to all my relatives as the announcement. I didn't know people did that either!!!

so i should send annoucements to everyone on both sides of the family,
Then send out engagement party invitations to only the people who are invited.
