Ahhh! I really, really want a cardbox, but my mom is SO insistent on not having a cardbox. Apparently 'jews don't have that.' I think it's totally ridic but there is def no way I am getting around her, my wedding or not.
So, for those of you not doing a cardbox, are you doing anything else instead or just the old hand off to the parents?

My sister used a card bag. Also, bird cages are a cute idea!

i wish!!!!! there is no way my mom would ever let it happen and it's really just not worth the stress (as much as i really want to DIY my own cute one!) so i guess it's one dream i need to let go...
btw, what is a card bag?? i'm assuming just a bag that holds cards? is there anything specific about it?
its funny you say that bc i think it is the complete opposite...jewish people should def have one! We are having a jewish wedding and i made my own cardbox...i had my final meeting with the RH last night and i said 'where is the gift table going'....my banquet manager responded 'oh honey you dont get gifts at a jewish wedding, you need an envelope holder'. So i clarified that i meant the cardbox table and she seemed relieved!!!

I went to a wedding recently and there was not a card box. I had to find the Mother of the groom and give the card to her.
I felt terrible, I never met her before and I had to interrupt her conversation to give her the card.
I would definitely talk to your Mom about this some more. I don't think she realizes that not having a card box will be more of an inconvenience on her and your guests.

yeah i agree, tradition or not, you NEED an envelope holder.... this way you know where EVERY single one of those is going.
Be it bird cage, box, or bag, you def need some specific place to clarify for the guests where to put them. Please, you dont want to have the mistake of loosing someones card and then getting mad cause you think they jipped you.

I'm Jewish and I plan on having a cardbox (box/birdcage/chest we're not sure yet). And one of my friends that got married in 07, had a very Jewish ceremony and had a card box at the reception. So you wouldn't be the first Jewish bride to have a card box.

I didn't want a traditional cardbox, so I found this on etsy and got it.
Love it to pieces and reusable...It's actually a birdhouse.
It has your names on the front and your wedding date as well.

you will def need something! because you are going to get a lot of envelopes and there isn't a bag big enough for them IMO.
ive seen mailboxes or bird cages as well, but I don't think ive even been to a wedding without some contained to put them in... and most of them were catholic.
