Girls, please help with registering question.

One of FH's cousins e mailed me asking if we were registering before our engagement party in March. I was not plainning on doing this until one year before the wedding....should I be registering now?

I havent registered yet only because I didnt have an e-party
I say register now, and help people out. If things get discontinued you can always update your site. Its not set in stone

The first thing I did was go register because I am not having an engagement party and we had family members bugging us to register b/c they wanted to buy us engagement gifts. You can really register at anytime...

We will be registering within the next month or two. We are getting married in May 2010 and we are having an Engagement Party sometime this spring. Already family and friends have been asking where we are registered so we want to get it done asap. I can't wait to register though!!

Ok, might sound greedy, but I didn't register b4 our eparty bc I really preferred receiving the money. I did get some gifts, but a bulk was money and I truly appreciate my friends and family doing so. Plus, in our family tradition, i cannot use the eparty gifts until we are married (supersitions) so all my gifts are just sitting in my parents basement and at least the money is in a cd earning interest.

I didnt register before the eparty bc (just like christine...) i wanted the money...I would rather have money that could be put to use than gifts that i couldnt use until after we got married anyway...

I registered this past summer

I also didn't register before my sort-of kind-of engagement. It wasn't about the money, I just didn't want any gifts at all. The money we did get, is in a separate savings account not to be used until just before the wedding. I'm also superstitious like that.

i made a small registry with like picture frames and decorative stuff b4 my e-party so that people who didnt want to give money had something to give that I liked. The majority gave money but some of my school friends gave gifts

A few family friends asked us about where we were registered, but we just told them we werent and we didnt expect any gifts anyway.

From all the etiquette sites I read about e-parties said not to expect gifts, so we didnt.

We did recieve mostly monetary gifts (which is going to be put in a CD and used for wedding purposes). We also got a few picture frames, wedding planning books, wine glasses, and some wine.

All the gifts were great and nothing was of the type that we wanted to return.

I think it is best to wait to register till the bridal shower/wedding anyway.

The first words out of my friend's mouth was register before your birthday. This way for your birthday and next christmas you can start getting things you need. So with that advise I will be registering in a few weeks.
