GIrls that did not have bridal parties...

Did you regret it? FH and I are toying w/ the idea of only having his bro and my sis...otherwise, we are opening ourselves up to all of the politics involved/....

we only had a MOH and a BM and we didn't regret it at all! all of my close girlfriends were still with me the entire day (and leading up to the big day). in fact, i was glad to not have to think about bridesmaid dresses, shoes, suits for the guys, etc, in addition to everything else i had to plan. HTH!

just went to a wedding with just a MOH and BM. It was actually really nice... only the 2 of them were up there during the ceremony... wasnt crowded and since it was siblings it meant alot. All of the brides girlfriends were still there, but it was a small wedding so it was really appropriate.

I thank my lucky stars EVERY DAY that FH convinced me to just do a MOH and best man. We have my sister and his brother. I see all the problems girls here have with bridesmaids dropping out, not wanting to wear certain colors, dresses, shoes, etc -- and my sister has been an angel, no problems whatsoever. We picked a dress in the color I wanted that fit HER and only HER, and it was so easy. No shower drama, no bachelorette drama - nothing. It's been great and I would recommend it to anyone! I don't know how the brides with 10 BMs do it!!!!!!

Bonus - I was able to get my sister a really nice gift, and we did the same for FH's bro. Our parents too are getting very nice gifts. This is not something we could have done with even 3 bridesmaids and 3 groomsmen .... and it was important to me because these people have done a lot for us.

My friend had a MOH and BM. That was 5 years ago and she still says she wished she had us all in it. Especially now that we are all getting married and having her she sees what she missed out. I loved having my girls stand up with us on our special day. JMO

we only have 3 people each - i have a matron of honor (FH's sis), maid of honor (my sis) and my best friend

FH has the best man (his bro-in-law), and his 2 closest guy friends

i think its perfect - small - no drama

we're only having a MOH and BM. i don't want to deal with the issues that come up, girls get caty and i have enough stress from the wedding as it is.

we are just having BM & MOH (my daughter) - I don't regret it now and know i won't regret it later on... i dont need the stress of dealing with a bridal party. My close girlfriends are still involved in my planning, they are so willing to help & I think I'm actually doing them a favor by just letting them sit back and enjoy the wedding day without the stress of having to be in the wedding party.

We were only going to have one each, to simplify everything, we REALLY wanted to keep everything small and on BUDGET ha....then i went to book a photograther and saw all the pictures of the 'bridal party' and broke down....i couldnt imagine one of the biggest days of my life without my two best friends (since we were 5), i could not imagine NOT having them up there supporting me, like they have all these years, i could not imagine all my pictures (memories) without them in them...they deserved to be in the party and im honored to have them...i ended up calling them from the photograhers parking lot crying, please be my bm, i cant do this without you, blah blah blah, needless to say we now have 3 each, and i could not be happier. And in all honesty we have not have bridal party drama, b/c of the people we picked. Its all up to the couple and what you guys want and need :)
I knew my day would feel 'incomplete' without them, and the moment i asked them i knew in my heart it was the right thing for me.

I definitely wanted to have a bridal party with 5 my closest girls, but I think it's also nice when there's only a Best Man & MOH. I don't think you would regret it - not if it's something you definitely want.

My FH isn't having any groomsmen. It's just going to be him & his Best Man, along with me and my 5 girls. lol. When we realized that most of his friends wouldn't be able to fly out for a wedding, we definitely preferred having just the one in the wedding (as appose to filling the men's side with MY guy friends, or the bridesmaids' husbands). I don't think we'll be regretting this decision either, since it's what we both want

NO bridal party at all... NO drama! I loved it and don't regret it.

the problem is that people pick their bridal party IMMEDIATELY!!!! they say to wait a few months at least and see how your friends reacts to your engagement, see who is happy for you and interested in your wedding. I did that and we had 22 ppl well 20 adults and not one of them gave us a problem at all, and not one time was there drama about anything, not with me or not amongst themselves. If people wait then they would've seen which friend wasn't enthusiastic, which one didn't seem to care about your wedding. I always see people on here say 'oh big bp equals drama' but its funny bc most ppl i see on here having drama have smaller bridal parties than i did, and some with yes even small bp's, its the people you choose not the size, bc usually it is just 1 or 2 people

To the OP: if you want no bp then go for it, all that matters is that you and your FH do what makes you happy.

only had 1 MOH and BM.

I have been in 4 weddings myself and know the drama that comes with being in a bridal party and didnt want to deal with it myself.

but that is JMO.

Also it was a lot easier to take group shots, less people to organize and keep track of. but its mostly depending on you. I don't like so many people buzzing around me when I'm nervous, so it worked for me. But it really depends on your personality.

I agree. I haven't had any drama either. Not at all. I took my sweet time choosing only my closest friends and it's been awesome having them apart of this. I know that for me, personally, i would have definitely regretted not having these girls standing beside me. So I wouldn't use 'Bridal Party Drama' as a reason to not have it. Just choose your BP more wisely than others have.

Well, the thing is, we are having a 250 person wedding. Now, we arefiguring, if we have our original BP, it's six on each side, two RB, one FG. = More $$!!

We'd rather spend it on other things, in lieu of RD, gifts, etc....yet, at the same time, I like the whole BP idea... Decisons, decisions.

its up to you really, its your decision and only yours well you and your FH. I had 275 guests so i know what you meant about a big wedding. And including FG and RB we had 22 members in the bp. You can always have a bp but keep it small then to keep down costs

Re: GIrls that did not have bridal parties...

Having your friends involved is very special but you dont have to have a BP. As many of my friends are starting their own lives with their husbands & families, I felt it would be a lot for them & for me (both with drama & $$). I am doing a King's wedding which is my MOH/Best friend and only groomsmen. I always thought that was so elegant looking and this way, I have a BP but men are super easy. My other close friends have still played an important role in my wedding & remained involves. They will also be with me the morning of the wedding while I get dressed so I dont feel I am missing out. Also, they are able to look forward to my wedding as a day they can just go and have fun without the pressures. I am still happy with my decision
