Did you regret it? FH and I are toying w/ the idea of only having his bro and my sis...otherwise, we are opening ourselves up to all of the politics involved/....

My MOH was my best friend from college. I told her that she could pick out whatever dress she wanted. No problems with getting a bunch of girls to agree on a dress and a color.
My DH's best man was his best friend from college. We asked him to wear a vest that was the same color as the MOH's dress. He was very agreeable.
We talked about a bridal party and agreed right away that we wanted our best friend's only.

I was torn because a few of my good friends weren't going to be in my wedding and I was in theirs but we ended up just having one of my sisters and his best friend and I'm glad - I think it also takes a lot of stress off the friends since they won't have to buy a dress etc. And it makes it easy for me - my sister can pick out a dress and we are done.

My sister is my MOH and FH's brother is the BM. We don't regret it at all. Our friends are still being invited to come join us for group photos.
I am also able to pay for EVERYTHING for my sister -- her dress (and she can choose what she wants from a certain color), her shoes, her hair, her makeup, her hotel room... etc.

Just our siblings...and very happy about it. 1/2 of the bridal parties I was in back in my 20's I'm not even friends with the girls anymore.
Less flowers, gifts, and drama. I am having my step brothers and sisters walk down the aisle and take a seat in the first row but they don't have to spend the money on gowns (I know they will look great anyway) plus my wedding will be black-tie optional.

I have 2 sisters and FH has 2 sisters so we decided to have best people (my 2 sisters will be there for me and FH's 2 sisters will be on his side). We are very happy with this decision because it's a lot less drama and no one can be offended because we are only doing siblings. If we would have went with a traditional wedding party, we would have had at least 10 people each and we didn't want that. We want the day to be about us.

If it was up to me entirely I would have had only children in the bp... but FH needed his bro... so we have Moh/BM and 2 flower girls and 2 ring bearers
btw my friends getting married within months of me, their lives and families and I really thought about it and I love everyone who will (hopefully all make it!) be there and appreciate them coming to support us- it is really about us and not about all those things bps do that my friends will share with me anyway...
