girls that have purchased homes...*UPDATE**

ok - i just hung up with my lawyer - so i want to know if i just made a fool of myself or if i was completly justified in my actions.

we are purchasing a co-op and everyone is ready to close (co-op atty, banks atty, my atty) except we are waiting on this UCC-1 form that has to be filed with the county stating that you are purchasing this block & lot. anyway its been 2 weeks and this thing is still not filed with the county.
i called my atty a week ago and inquired and he told me i could check myself on-line since it will probably be on there b4 he will even find out. this annoyed me a bit - what the hell am i paying this guy for if i am going to check myself? and than he starts with the impatient jokes - that i am impatient. i blew it off. so i have been checking everyday and still do not see our names on this block & lot.

so i called him today - and he is just 'well you just have to wait' - and than says 'i didnt know there were women worse than my wife with patience' - and than i unleased the wrath of tricia.
i have been patient - we had our offer accepted the first week in january - and why am i checking, why am i the only one concerned, and that i dont appreciate his jokes - and i dont care who he has to call (cause he kept telling me i couldnt call anyone - they wouldnt speak to me - it would have to be an attorney) but he better get on the phone and have an answer better than 'i need patience' - i am not quite sure he knew what to do with me @ that point. he got real quite and told me he will call me back.

now - was me tearing his head off justified? or do i really look like an impatient little kid?

UPDATE - thanks to all your advice it made me feel completly powerful today. so when he called back and said that he will set a deadline for friday - i told him it was UNACCEPTABLE and that i wanted an answer by tomorrow morning @ 10 am (thanks cynthia.. )
anyway - thank you all for helping me and making me feel like i did the right thing to stand up for myself. wish me luck.

EXACTLY - arrogant. perfect word.

tell me you dont know. BS me and tell me you called and waiting for someone to call you back - DONT YOU DARE PUSH THIS ON ME AND TELL ME I AM BEING IMPATIENT - he is lucky i didnt drive there to slap him. its a piece of paper someone in the county clerks office has to enter into a computer system....hey 2 weeks and $100 (the fee to have this filed) i think that is enough for my attorney to pick up a phone and find out what is going on.

You were totally right. If you need a new Real Estate Attorney let me know. My sister works for one and they are great.

I've had problems with co-ops and the UCC 1

If you want, bypass your attorney and find out who the banks attorney is and have them contact the title company. It really shouldn't take that long.
Tell the attorney you're going to fire him if he doesn't get his sh*t together. It's really ridiculous that you've waited this long. Is there a broker involved? Why don't they intervene? Call the county and ask how far behind they are too!

Sorry, I'm in real estate and these stories really piss me off!

no - there are no brokers involved.
how would i find out the bank attorney - just call the bank? will they divulge this info to me? will the bank attorney speak to me?

I would be FURIOUS - to me he sounds like one of those guys that thinks women are beneath him and he sounds very patronizing!! You were completely justified in my opinion!!

Re: girls that have purchased homes...

I totally understand your frustration. When I purchased my co-op it took me 6 months from when I made the offer to when I moved in.

Everyone seemed to drag their heels, from the bank to the coop board to the contractors fixing up the place.

It is my belief that that the 'Squeaky wheel gets the oil' so keep complaining to get these people to do their friggin job.

And congrats on buying a place.

Re: girls that have purchased homes...

Call the bank and DEMAND their attorney's name. Listen, no matter how you slice it, you're paying ALL of these people in some way. You deserve to know what's going on.

Call the bank attorney and cry them a river!
They're not really supposed to speak with you, but tell them that you've waited so long and you're getting married and don't want to be on the streets. Just be REALLY nice (you get more bees with honey) and make it sound like they're your last resort.

Good Luck! If you need help, please FM me!

Oh man what a p***k! You had every right to go postal on him...YOU are paying him to do a job and you should be able to call him every minute of every day if you want to...If he doesn't want to be paid to do a job tell him you will find someone who does!

yeah, i agree. your atty seems like an ahole. i hate that attys tend to forget that they work FOR YOU and not the other way around. get your realtor involved. they're getting paid too so ask them to call and get to the bottom of this. i'm a realtor and I know i would do everything in my power to get that deal closed because it's the only way that i get any $. do what you have to and don't feel bad. in the end, you know not to use this attorney ever again!
