ok - i just hung up with my lawyer - so i want to know if i just made a fool of myself or if i was completly justified in my actions.
we are purchasing a co-op and everyone is ready to close (co-op atty, banks atty, my atty) except we are waiting on this UCC-1 form that has to be filed with the county stating that you are purchasing this block & lot. anyway its been 2 weeks and this thing is still not filed with the county. i called my atty a week ago and inquired and he told me i could check myself on-line since it will probably be on there b4 he will even find out. this annoyed me a bit - what the hell am i paying this guy for if i am going to check myself? and than he starts with the impatient jokes - that i am impatient. i blew it off. so i have been checking everyday and still do not see our names on this block & lot.
so i called him today - and he is just 'well you just have to wait' - and than says 'i didnt know there were women worse than my wife with patience' - and than i unleased the wrath of tricia. i have been patient - we had our offer accepted the first week in january - and why am i checking, why am i the only one concerned, and that i dont appreciate his jokes - and i dont care who he has to call (cause he kept telling me i couldnt call anyone - they wouldnt speak to me - it would have to be an attorney) but he better get on the phone and have an answer better than 'i need patience' - i am not quite sure he knew what to do with me @ that point. he got real quite and told me he will call me back.
now - was me tearing his head off justified? or do i really look like an impatient little kid?
UPDATE - thanks to all your advice it made me feel completly powerful today. so when he called back and said that he will set a deadline for friday - i told him it was UNACCEPTABLE and that i wanted an answer by tomorrow morning @ 10 am (thanks cynthia.. ) anyway - thank you all for helping me and making me feel like i did the right thing to stand up for myself. wish me luck.

Re: girls that have purchased homes...
I remember when i bought my house, I got my lawyer through my teacher union and he was a complete buthole!!! YOu have every right to demand that he do his job. Being a lawyer he should be more professional then telling jokes.

It's too bad that in NY attorneys are mandatory. Other states, you don't need an attorney.
I am closing on a loan in AZ and although I had some bumps and had to do a lot myself, at least I was in control and my mortgage banker led me every step of the way.
You are 100% justified. Sometimes I find that being a woman, sometimes we don't get taken seriously. This really pisses me off.
