Re: Girls who do theatre QUICK
Audrey is more of a character voice, so would you want to go in with something like Adelaides Lament?

Its going to be at my old college...Suny Farmingdale. the music director called me and asked me to come in and audition...But the current students get first dibs on the parts and then it opens to alumni, so i really want to blow this guy out of the water and get the role asap.

Re: Girls who do theatre QUICK
are you looking to show the character or the powerhouse? For powerhouse, I have always found that Big Spender, if you can really belt it, blows people away, but if you are going for the character aspect, I would show off the range of character portrayal.
Is he the type of music director who will be upset if you go in with one of the songs from the Show? If not, I would go in there and sing the hell out of somewhere thats green

I have in a variety show done audrey and you need to audition with a powerhouse song so that they can see you are capable of suddenly semore. i would say maybe doing the wizard and i from wicked I would keep it up beat no matter what you use.

i personally wouldnt do grease...sorry ladies. all of audrey's songs are much more complex then there are worse things I could do. plus i know lots of directors who cant stand listening to grease songs lol so it depends on the director. what about also from into the woods...i think its called justify the beans. im gonna keep thinking...im sick so the titles of the songs arent coming as quick as they should lol

Re: Girls who do theatre QUICK
i am really familiar with Maybe This Time from Cabaret...I would do the last 16 (or 17, but the director doesnt need to know) and belting it out isnt a problem for me...Do you think that would work...It stinks though bc I have limited sheet music and need to bring my own... I have sheet music from Cabaret, Grease, Aida, a random book of old school Broadway plays, Nunsense, Little Shop (cant use that for a little shop audition...) and Rent....

What about Guys and Dolls? Adelaide had a character voice like Audrey... but I can't think of a good song...
