Do you ever get panicked when you start looking for places to live? Btw FH and I we make a decent amount of money but to start paying for a place to live on top of trying to save for the weddings seems almost impossible. I nearly had a panic attack on Sunday when we went to check out our first condo lol After the wedding we'll be fine but we obviously need somewhere to come home to after the wedding and I don't want to have to compromise anything we really want because we have to worry about mortgage and utilities. I've been so calm and pretty much laid back about the whole wedding process but this always makes me stressed beyond belief.

I have my own apartment so we will live there right after we are married most likely. Hopefully maybe we'll have a downpayment for something else after the wedding.

I completely know what you mean... We were looking for a house and planning the wedding at the same time... and between realtors, open houses and wedding stuff, it all just got way too overwhelming. Luckily, my parents own a house that nobody is living in right now, so we'll stay there for a few months after the wedding while we save alittle more money and start house hunting. It was just too much for us to go through both major life processes at the same time.
Is there anywhere you guys can live for a little while after the wedding while you look for a place to live?

Well FH has his own apartment but it's super tiny and it's downstairs in his parent's house. I could move in there but I really, really don't want to. I think what we figured is that we're going to wait until the spring of next year before we really start looking. By then 90% of the wedding costs will be paid or close to be close to being paid and then we can focus on a place to live. I swear I'm going to have grey hair from this alone before we even get married! lol

FH and I both have our own apartments; his place is a little bigger than mine so I think we'll probably end up living there for the time being following the wedding and honeymoon...adding apartment-hunting or house-hunting to the mix right now is bound to make both of us

i know the feeling-fh and i both live at home right now, and we wanted to buy a house..however, considering the economy right now, im scared to sign a mortage without job security (he has job security, but i dont)..so as of now were planning on getting an apartment for a year or two until the economy levels out..

i hear you girls...me and FH both live at home and trying to plan a wedding, find a place to live-(we still dont know what is better-get an apartment for a year/two years and save up or buy a house now)-PLUS FH is starting law school in sept. at night AND still working full time--it is going to be so stressful!!!!!!!

yes! we started looking because we really want to buy but i just have a feeling it will be hard for us to get a mortgage on a house because i am on unemployement.......if we can't get a house we will rent

I'm sure some of you girls have done this already but really sit down and go over everything. The first thing FH & I did was make up a spreadsheet, it had our monthly net income and fixed expenses on it. Then we were left with X amount, from there we determined what variable expenses we had (like groceries, gas, activities, etc.) and then we had a really good idea of what type of mortgage we could afford. But really write it all down, discussing it is one thing but seeing it all on paper will really help.

yes all the time... its like thinking about your life savings going into the down payment! lol..so far FH and i haven't found anythign we liked (that we could afford) but we'll see..

I have not flipped out I already pay rent, But Fh does not but he is the one saving for the house, hopefully by Dec/ JAn we have our own home!

I haven't yet. I know we will need to pay for furniture, rent, etc. but it hasn't really hit me yet that we will really need to buckle down on spending. We haven't really started to look for a place yet, so it won't hit me until we find a place and the money starts going into it.

i think we're gonna rent for a little and then search for something! we kinda wanna get out of the city, so we have lots of research to do
