I am having 275-300 people. We will socialize people directly after the wedding ceremony and then during the reception. We are not making an appearance during the cocktail hour.

I am going to spend most of socializing time with FH's family since they flew over from Europe and I see mine everyday.

we had about 275 and it took us long ONLY bc dh had to have long conversations with everybody. Just tell your fh from ahead of time to limit yourself 5 mins the most at each table and move on. I did this with DH and we planned it all out ahead of time but of course once we got to the tables he wouldnt shut up. Make sure yours doesnt do this.

ugh im struggling with this myself. i am going to have 22 tables... and five minutes a table is like over an hour and a half of time!
i was thinking of doing a receiving line from the CH into the main room so I can make sure to see every person w/o having to table hop!

you dont have to do a receiving line at the CH, just go to your Ch and say hello to everyone, or at least get alot of ppl out of the way, it will help greatly. I didnt go to my CH so i had to do it all at the reception.

I had 370 guests. After the first dance, after my dress was bustled, we walked around very quickly to each table and said hello. We did one side of the room, then took a break and did the other side of the room. I don't remember exactly how much, but nothing was going on except for music and people dancing, so we didn't feel like we missed much.

you might not see everybody, there are some who get there late and miss CH...but if you get a majority of the guests or even half then it will be fine.

We had 350 people at our wedding and the only regrets we have is not being able to see and say hello to everyone. While we were having dinner a line started to form to give us gifts so that lasted about an 1hr, but after that we were so busy with other formalites, its soooo hard when you have a large wedding. I dont even know who didnt show up because i didnt look at the place card table for extras. I cant wait to see the video.

This is why i was thinking of dong a receiving line. It will ensure every single person gets a hello...and will eliminate running around table to table.. where you can certainly miss ppl who arent sitting.

I can barely imagine if for the approx 125 guest I'll have.

I'm not exactly the most social perosn either so this all makes me very uncomfortable.

I had 225 and it took me the majority of the night. We did it in spurts but I would recommend going to your cocktail hour.

We are having about 300 people at our wedding and we plan on saying hi to the people we hardly see. We really want to enjoy our wedding-after all the planning and $$ that goes into it, we should enjoy it. We are going to have a receiving line at the church and do not plan on going to cocktail hour. Im sure your family will understand if you cant get to everyone.

Well my list is 360 people and we both come from very large families. I plan on saying hello to the 4 main family tables, then if people want to come up to us..they can come up to us. I am sorry, I don't feel like blowing the fortune I am spending on this wedding by going around to say hello to everyone.

This is a great post, our invite list is at 265 and it is stressing me out. Like one of the posters said, my FH could talk forever if I let him!

well im an idiot bc i forgot about the sign im supposed to give if i wanted to be pulled away from a table. When i arrived at JT, my maitre'd went over things with me and one thing he told me to do was come up with a sign. he says guests can keep couples at a table too long and talk forever and if you want to be pulled away to just give him the sign and he'll come over pretending he needs you lol

towards the end, when we were close to the last table i fixed my earring and he thought i was grabbing my ear which meant i was signaling for him. He came over to get me and i believed he needed me until we were further away and he said he thought i signaled him hahaha, but worked out bc i did need to keep it moving lol

ask your maitre'd to do this
