Did you (or do you plan to) use candles at your reception? votives i mean on the tables or anything?
SIL thinks candles at her daytime wedding are pointless. i think they add elegance to the table.

I am planning on having hurricane candles as my centerpieces and I'm having a daytime wedding. I just think it will look nice. I'm not worried about the light.

our cp's were just a hurricane lamp with a large candle in it--with 4 votives on each table--i thought it was a nice touch! we made sure to have the lights dimmed in the room, so the votives added a nice touch!

Yes, I plan on having them. We are having the curtains drawn since we have light shows with our DJ...we want a full dance atmosphere when the lights go down!

Re: Girls who had or are having daytime weddings...
I like candles and am incorporating them into my centerpieces. The high CPs have 'arms' from the bases which hold votives. The low CP's will have votives surrounding them. The Reception room also has windows, but there are drapes on the windows to filter some of the outside light. Depending upon how bright the entrance room is, I may or may not have candles placed on the escort card table. The CH room will have votives on each table. I want to have candles on my table. I love the way they look in photographs.
Candelight is quite flattering, and since my gown is light gold, the look should be fabulous.

Hi All,
I am thinking about having a daytime wedding, but was concerned people wouldn't have as much fun in the daytime atmosphere.
Did anyone else have that concern and what soothed your fears?
Thanks in advance!

we had candles as part of our CPs at our daytime wedding and they looked great. the sun was shining brightly too.
i was concerned about people not dancing and having fun, but those fears went WAY out the window fast. i actually would have a daytime wedding again if i could, because we partied all night at the hotel after!
it was a blast!

i'm doing only votives as my centerpiece for my daytime wedding....I hope just closing the shades a little and dimming the lights will help the candles look more 'glowy'

yes, the centerpiece was a cadelebra with flowers... it was an indoor winter wedding and added a 'cozy, homey' feeling

Re: Girls who had or are having daytime weddings...
I bought a lot of pretty pale yellow frosted votives, and my RH provided candles and more votives. I definitely used them! And it looked very pretty. Not quite as nice as if it were evening, but you do what you can. Look at this picture, you can see the votives in the background. And I think the tapers look good in the second picture, even though you can see how bright it is outside. There's also votives around the edge of the table that don't show up well in that shot, but looked good at the time.
Go for it, they're not expensive and definitely add to the ambiance.
Re: Girls who had or are having daytime weddings...
I think adding a touch of candles really makes it look nice however, it also depends on the room and how it's set up. I'm going to add the candles with my centerpieces...

Re: Girls who had or are having daytime weddings...
The hall is providing our CPs & from what I remember, they include candles. We're using them. I don't think it's pointless at all. Of course, the room we're in doesn't have windows & the room will be lit by the chandeliers so the candles will add to the mood. It may be different if her hall has lots of big windows.

we are having gold and silver votives, but there is no lighting otherwise, so they should look nice

We are going to have them.... I originally thought I wouldn't because it would be pointless during the day. Then I went to my tasting which started while the sun was still up and they looked so nice that we will be having votive candles at our reception.

I used them as our place cards, so then they were on the tables. I also used them on my cake table. It all looked really nice. Here is a picture of the cake cutting....
