Did you (or do you plan to) use candles at your reception? votives i mean on the tables or anything?
SIL thinks candles at her daytime wedding are pointless. i think they add elegance to the table.

Re: Girls who had or are having daytime weddings...
I initially wanted candles, however I'm getting married at noon and my reception is in the skylight room at Jericho Terrace so the whole look I was going for would be lost....

Sure, you can still use them. They add a different glow than natural light. My room at the RH is in the basement so there is no natural light.

I think it depends on the room...I lit a candle in my you honestly couldn't tell it lit! Wall to wall windows didn't help. I've seen many people use candles during the day and it was beautiful!

we had candles as part of our CPs at our daytime wedding and they looked great. the sun was shining brightly too.
i was concerned about people not dancing and having fun, but those fears went WAY out the window fast. i actually would have a daytime wedding again if i could, because we partied all night at the hotel after!
it was a blast!
Thank you so much for saying that! I have the same worries! I feel as if people wouldn't dance during the day.

Re: Girls who had or are having daytime weddings...
Our centerpieces have floating candles in them, and we are also setting some votives out. The room we have our reception in will be dark, so it will feel like a night wedding. I figured if the room was dark, and we had the candles, it would set the 'mood' of a night wedding. Some people don't dance and party as much if the room is well lit, like they are embarrassed or something...

Re: Girls who had or are having daytime weddings...
Uh, well, there wasn't a lot of dancing at my wedding, which was my one disappointment about the day. But then I should have figured it, nearly all my guests were thirty and above. I think because it was a Sunday afternoon no one was 'stupid' drunk enough to jump up and dance. However, since returning from the honeymoon, everyone I've spoken to told me that they loved our wedding because they were actually able to talk to people. So I'm happy about that, but I still would have liked more dancing--the reason we went with a traditional RH rather than a restaurant for our small reception was because I wanted to dance a lot. We had the first dance, where we danced alone for a bit then everyone jumped up and joined in, and the hora, which were great, and there were usually a few couples dancing at any one time, but it wasn't a big part of the reception.
But, I think if you have enough younger people, you'll be fine. The kids certainly had a great time dancing at our reception, and they dragged a lot of people onto the dance floor with them, even if they didn't stay.

My reception started at 2:30, and I used these as my centerpieces. The candle was obviously lit througout the whole reception.
Re: Girls who had or are having daytime weddings...
Personally I am not planning to use votives. But if I were, I would not say they are not appropriate for a daytime wedding.

Re: Girls who had or are having daytime weddings...
DH and I got married at 10am the reception was 12:30-5:30. We had 6 votives on each table and they really made a difference. They brought a night romantic feel to the room, even though the sun was shining.
Also, most halls have rooms with tinted windows...even if they are tinted the slightest amount. So votives are really worth it.

do whatever you want during a daytime wedding!! candles are fine. listen i just recently went to a daytime wedding and i am kicking myself for not having one.
honeslty it felt no less formal than an evening wedding. we drank, we eat, we danced- we had a blast.
have the candles, they add elegance, they are not in anyway silly. they add ambience.....

I'll be having them in my room my reception starts at 1 in the afternoon)...chances are, your room will be dimly lit and I think the candle light adds a really nice touch

I think it depends on how bright the room is. If it's extrememly bright, then I do not see the point. You won't really notice the candles. But, she can do whatever she wants.

Re: Girls who had or are having daytime weddings...
I got married at the Watermill during the day, which we did purposely because the room still has a 'night' feel because of all the dark wood. So we used lots of candles - who cares if it's during the day! Also, I totally agree about the partying all night afterwards! We had 4 different centerpieces, all which had some candles. This one was all candles:
We also had them on the fireplace
Here's some more

we are doing candles even thou we wont get the effect it would at night it is still a simple and elegant touch. ( and much cheaper than flowers!)
