Can I ask how much your china is a place setting? If it's over $100 you may have some people all go in together to get you a few settings....

Re: Girls who had their shower...
Our places setting are $130 each (I think) and it looks like we got 9 out of 12 place settings so far.(my shower is next weekend). we only got 2 bowls though(they are separate from the palce setting) and cost $52 each! oh well. I'll buy them afterwards I guess.

Re: Girls who had their shower...
I got 3 pasta bowls and quite a few crystal glasses (about 15)... The china didn't move at all.
I figured that. I plan on buying it in dribs and drabs.

Re: Girls who had their shower...
I think it really depends. My family for some reason seemed to be appliance obsessed and wanted to get me all the electrics. My Mom bought 12 place settings and the 12 soup bowls, and my college roommate bought the sugar bowl, but I didn't get the rest.

Re: Girls who had their shower...
I didn't have any formal china on my registry because I have my grandmothers set that I love.
I did however have everyday dishes (about $50 per set- big/small plates, mug, and bowl) from Macy's and a few bought those.
Right after the wedding my MIL went and bought me service for 12 fine china- the whole dang set

Re: Girls who had their shower...
I registered for 12 place settings and got 6 for my engagement party (including the soup bowls) plus a platter. China is big in my family so I am sure I will get the remaining 4 for my shower. I just checked my registry and someone also just bought 6 of my crystal wine glasses!

Re: Girls who had their shower...
I registered for a box that was service for 12, all included ( gravy boat, plates, bowls, tea cups, saucers, veggie platter etc..) from JcPenny's. IT was 70 dollars, white with a platinum rim...that was good enough for me, so I ordered two of them in case stuff breaks. I just didn't want to get only like two plates and three bowls etc..and then have to buy the rest.
I just checked the registry and yep...I got it.

I think I picked the same setor at least similar. I felt the same as you, not wanting a couple of pieces and being stuck buyin gthe rest. My mom bought it for me for Christmas.

Re: Girls who had their shower...
Not for my shower, though we did get our flutes.
But his fam is having a shower for us in a few weeks, and his mom told us that whatever she bought is arriving from Macy's in SIX boxes So we're thinking it's some of our china settings!
