Is anyone else really nervous for the flight? FH and I were talking about this on Saturday and we are both REALLY nervous and were thinking of other options with a shorter flight.
Please tell me if I'm crazy or if it's worth the plane ride. How long is it exactly??

you could always break up the flight by staying in California for a night. We live in San Francisco, but are getting married in NY and we're staying in Cali for a night before we leave for Hawaii. My brother went to Hawaii for his honeymoon, and stayed in LA for a night to break up the flight time too.

The plane ride is soo worth it...When you step off the plane you will see why...it is amazing...I cannot put it into words. I went there because I had two friends who moved there after college....Before I even left I was looking into moving there but NYS would not accept anniversary of Hawaii credits for me to get my masters and permanent teaching license.

The long flight scares me too. That is the reason we decided not to go to Bora Bora! It was like a 26 hr trip or something crazy. Oh well Hawaii is far enough and it is supposed to be amazing!! Im so excited. FH and I always wanted to go! We are stopping in dallas to break up the trip too.

My friend who student taught with me in NY moved to Maui for a year to teach. She said it was just amazing and she would walk on the beach every night after work and listen to her Ipod. She is putting together info for us to take so we dont miss anything. I will share any good stuff!!

If you're a bad flyer, I would think that it's the takeoffs and landings that are bad, not the time in the air. So... hold on tight to your new DH for the takeoff and after that, prepare for just some boredom. Bring some movies and some magazines; I like puzzle books too because you're more active and it passes the time faster. Then, when the plane is landing, you'll be so excited to be almost in Hawaii, you won't even remember to be scared.
I've done 8 - 9 hour flights several times and really, the worst part is the boredom when you're over the ocean. But - you're on your way to your honeymoon! So much to be excited about! You'll be fine.

the flight isnt THAT bad. We had a stopover at atlanta. But towards the end of the flights i was getting restless. Just take benadryl to knock you out!

I did the flight out of Newark and it was about 10 hours. I was nervous about it but it really did not feel that long...for me anyway. It is def. WORTH IT!!! They give you two meals...you sleep a little...watch some movies and you'll be there before you know it! Don't worry too much about it once you get to Hawaii you'll be happy you took the flight!

Re: Girls Who Have Been or are Going to Hawaii
We are flying to San Diego and staying for 2 nights before heading off to Hawaii for 2 weeks. Then on the way home, we are doing Vegas for 2 nights to break it up! We actually got first class tickets for everything..so it really shouldn't be that bad at all! Plus, we'll bring the portable dvd player so we can watch whatever we want, and I figured I would start writing out my thank you's which hopefully will take the whole flight! LOL

I think it's more then 10 hours. Me and FH are going there. Were flying to Houston then transfering there. It shouldn't be to bad especially with the transfer. You can walk around and get something to eat. You can always go to LA and then stay there a few days and then fly to Hawaii. So it breaks up the flight.
FH and I will be going to Hawaii for our honeymoon and our flight is 12 hours. We grappled about the long hours but we heard that it's so worth it. So although we dread the flight, we are so going.

Re: Girls Who Have Been or are Going to Hawaii
Well, I used to live in Hawaii and I traveled home pretty often the quickest flight to NY is about 9hours (because the trade winds push you) and 11 hours to Hawaii. I personally enjoyed the layovers because you got to get up and move around. Your body will be really tired because of the time difference and stopping allows your body to kind of get in check. The only MAJOR piece of advice I can give you is to SLEEEPPP on the plane rides every time you get on the plane try and sleep. When you land in Hawaii you won't feel so tired and waste your day and when you come back to NY you'll feel the same way. If you have trouble sleeping on the plane take SOMETHING!!!! It's really important to do this! Have a great time it is amazing there and I truly can't wait to go back and visit soon!

my FH is afraid of flying but really wants to go - so going there is rough (anticipation of getting there and all) I go each year b/c FH's family is there. REally they don't show very many good movies. I have done both transfer and go direct. I actually prefer the direct b/c waiting in the airport makes me nuts and it reallymakes the travel time much longer. HTH
