Is anyone else really nervous for the flight? FH and I were talking about this on Saturday and we are both REALLY nervous and were thinking of other options with a shorter flight.
Please tell me if I'm crazy or if it's worth the plane ride. How long is it exactly??

Your very lucky to be going to Hawaii. FH doesn't like planes not to mention I beleive it's like a 10 hour flight, so we wont be going there! Have fun......

that is one of the reasons we are not going i am going to Mexico instead, i am the worst flyer ever! Although my doctor recommends a sleeping pill for long flights maybe you can check into that if you really want to go

I think it's more then 10 hours. Me and FH are going there. Were flying to Houston then transfering there. It shouldn't be to bad espically with the transfer. You can walk around and get something to eat. You can always go to LA and then stay there a few days and then fly to Hawaii. So it breaks up the flight.

my FH is afraid of flying but really wants to go - so needless to say i'll be slipping valium in his drink
Theres a direct flight from newark - its about 10 hours. The other option is fly to vegas - then to hawaii - it breaks it up to about 5/6 hours each flight.
I say its worth it - im so excited. And with all the wedding stuff going on - you probably wont have much time to get yourself all worried about it

We will probably be going to Hawaii...if we do, that's what we will be doing...stopping in LA, maybe meet up with some friends if we stay a day or two, and then fly to Hawaii.

Re: Girls Who Have Been or are Going to Hawaii
we did connecting flights both ways only because i needed it. (i'm prone to blood clots)
I want to say it was a 2 hour lay over both times but in the end it was so worth it. we planned it so that when we arrived in Hawaii we had a full day ahead of us.

It's about 11 hours in the air on the way there plus layover, and 12 on the way back plus lay over.

trust me you just deal with it, its not that horrible. You'll also most likely sleep on the plane. Ive done 14 hour flights and have done them quite a few times. You'll be fine

From everyone who has been there I have heard it is worth it.
I have done flights almost as long to Europe so I am not that worried about it.
We are breaking it up on the way there with a stop in Vegas and then on the way back we will have a lay over somewhere. I wanted to direct to Newark on the way back but I didn't want to have to drive all the home from Jersey.

Re: Girls Who Have Been or are Going to Hawaii
you can get a direct flight o Continental out of Newark! The flight there is 10 hours and back is 9. I flew out at 9 am and got there in the afternoon due to time difference. I was SO excited to be there I hung out the rest of the day and night, having been up for 24 hours and enduring a 10 hour flight.
It isn't that bad!
Be sure to drink lots of water the 2 days before you leave. Most people take an evening flight back and sleep. If you do you will SWELL. my feet looked like footballs!

I am PETRIFIED of flying too. I am always medicated every time I fly. But, I have made a promise to myself that I'm not going to let it prevent me from experiencing the world. You only live once!

Re: Girls Who Have Been or are Going to Hawaii
If my FH could fly to Hawaii and fly to Japan which is pretty much a 24 hour flight with 1 possibly 2 layovers in between anyone can fly to hawaii haha
Fh is the worst at flying. He is very tall and hates sitting in the window seats andin the middle and he gets all antsy and has to get up and walk around etc.
So I am sure you will be fine, take some meds haha and maybe layover in cali or somewhere else to break it up!

I heard it is definitely worth the plane ride once you get there. You can do a layover in LA or San Francisco which breaks up the flight. Also my cousin flew directly there but opted for first class tickets and she said it wasnt bad at all. The chairs were comfortable, you had plenty of movies to watch and lots of snacks.
We are flying straight to Hawaii but on the way home we are stopping in Vegas to break it up.

Kim I find longer flights to be easier sometimes then shorter ones. Something to do with the altitude. Talk to your doctor about xanax. it won't knock you but it will keep you calm -- have a glass of wine or two on it and will knock you out and then you can sleep.
