Re: Girls who have been overseas
Transfers are almost NEVER worth it. In every city Ive stayed abroad Ive always either taken a cab or public transportation.
I would look at the hotel's site and see if they have estimated costs from the airport to the hotel. or email the hotel directly and see what they think the cost should be.
Also, try posting the specific hotel in the tripadvisor forums, the people in them are always so helpful!

I would call the hotel and see what they say. When I was in Ibiza they gave me the number to a few cab companies so I was prepared as soon as I got off the flight. Many of the airports that I've been to in Europe have taxi lines

I used taxi service in both Italy and Spain to from the airport to our cruise ship (italy) and to our hotel in Spain. We only paid $25 for each of them. Like someone else said, I never use the transfer that they offer. I did once and it was so chaotic. It's so much easier and cheaper to do it on your own.

Transfers are never worth it. Depending on the city, you can usually bargain with a taxi on the fare and will almost always end up paying a quarter of what you would've paid for a transfer.
A good resource ar ehte local guidebooks. They offer info on public transportation from the airports (shuttles, taxis, buses, trains, etc) and will give you estimates of the average cost to the major hotel destinations.

You should be able to get a cab easily from the airport in Athens. Any other places you are worried about?

HI! I travel to Greece 2 times a year to visit family. Where is your hotel? The problem with cabbies in Greece is that they love ripping off tourists! So be careful. But if your hotel in in the heart of Athens then about 30 euros should cover a cab ride. Plus don't tip the drivers!!!!!! FM me if you have any questions.

Take a cab. They are always available everywhere. We had no trouble in Paris, the Bahamas and Curaco... $80 is very high.
