girls who have done cruises

Is it REALLY worth it to go from a balcany room to a suite?

Its bigger, with bigger balcony, a sitting area, and a tub in addition to shower....

do you spend THAT much time in the room? Is a balacony roon bad?

Re: girls who have done cruises

how long is the cruise and where are you going?

i think if you are going to a warm place, a balcony is nice just so you can sit outside in the morning in the bathrobes they provide and order room service for breakfast. its wonderful!

we are doing a 2 wk cruise, so we decided to upgrade. so i cant really say if its worth it yet or not. but ive been on a week cruise before, and you dont spend that much time in teh room. mostly just in bed....but if you are going somewhere warm...i do recommend the balcony. its just really peaceful!!

I don't think you need to get a suite - the balcony rooms are pretty big anyway and you really don't spend much time in the room - when I'm on cruises I'm in the room to sleep and get ready for dinner. IMO it's not necessary to upgrade.

Totally agree. As long as you have a balcony, you're fine. There's so much to do, that we were rarely in the room.

ITA!...you are not in your room much, there are so many things to do on a cruise that you only go to your room to bath and sleep.

ITA though for our honeymoon I think we're going to make an exception. We figured we only get to do this once and it's a 14 day cruise leaving from Miami traveling along South America, through the Panama Canal and finishing in Los Angeles. If it's only a week long cruise, I'd say stick with the balcony, it's still an upgrade from the interior rooms!

If i was doing a cruise for my HM i would definitely upgrade... (I mean if it was a ridiculous upgrade price then probably not) if it was just a regular old vaca then id say just leave it as is... i know we will be spending more time in the room than on a normal vaca...

i say go for it

I don't think you need to upgrade to a suite. We always either get an inside or a balcony. if it's a really warm place we are going to we get a balcony. otherwise we save our money and just stick to the inside. we're doing 2 weeks europe cruise for our honeymoon and we're only getting an inside. To be honest we only sleep and shower in the room. most the time we're out and about doing things. u can def get away without upgrading.

IMO, the balcony is worth it! It's extra space and so cool to sit out there and literally be in the middle of nowhere! FH and I spent a lot of time out there when we did our cruise. I suggest going for it!

We're doing a cruise for our HM and FIL's told us we HAD to get a balcony room. They said the suite wasn't necessary but the balcony was. It makes it less chlostrophobic and FMIL told us how she loves to go out and have her coffee on the balcony each morning when she goes on a cruise.

$350 pp? For 7 days? I wouldn't do it, especially since you already have the balcony. That's all you need.

Re: girls who have done cruises

I know when I booked my cruise, my rep told me to keep an eye out for price reductions.....she informed us that as it gets closer to the ship out date, the cruise line may do price reductions if they want to fill the ship. So for instance we got an Oceanview stateroom, but if the price for a balcony or suite gets reduced, we may be able to upgrade without incurring a huge cost.

We were originally going to get an inside room, but since this is my first time on a cruise, FH suggested it would be best to have a window.
