Is it REALLY worth it to go from a balcany room to a suite?
Its bigger, with bigger balcony, a sitting area, and a tub in addition to shower....
do you spend THAT much time in the room? Is a balacony roon bad?

Re: girls who have done cruises
I've had both and the only difference was a having a tub instead of a shower. Yes, it was nice to have more space but I probably wouldn't do it again to save money.
Stick to the balcony and save some $$.

I would DEF do the balcony but not sure if the extra space is really necessary. You shouldn't be spending that much time in the room! And the rooms (at least Carnivals) were a lot bigger than we expected on a cruise ship. The balcony is definitely really nice for your morning coffee and room service breakfast. Or the late night room service food. Yum-O!
The first time we cruised we did a oceanview stateroom (just the portal) and the next time we got upgraded to balcony for free...once we went balcony we never went back! The other thing we loved to do is to hang out on our own balcony as we were arriving/departing ports. Much nicer than trying to squeeze into a railing at the public decks! Last time we had 3 balcony rooms (family cruise) in a row so we just unlocked the dividers and had a huge balcony to share! =) Which line are you going on? I LOVE Carnival!

I don't think you need to get a suite - the balcony rooms are pretty big anyway and you really don't spend much time in the room - when I'm on cruises I'm in the room to sleep and get ready for dinner. IMO it's not necessary to upgrade.
ITA though for our honeymoon I think we're going to make an exception. We figured we only get to do this once and it's a 14 day cruise leaving from Miami traveling along South America, through the Panama Canal and finishing in Los Angeles. If it's only a week long cruise, I'd say stick with the balcony, it's still an upgrade from the interior rooms!
we are doing the same cruise!!! but we are leaving from FLL!! what cruise line?
NCL! I can't wait. It's going to be amazing. We haven't booked it yet since we know we won't be taking it right after the wedding, but it leaves from Miami in Sept! How about you?
