How big of a cake are you getting? I just emailed another bakery for a quote on the Xbox cake I would like to do and the price is very good but they said the cake would only feed about 15 people.
Now I know I don't really need to get a HUGE groom's cake since we are going to have the wedding cake as well, but that seems awfully small, no?

Re: Girls who have done/are doing Groom's Cakes
Well what I am planning on doing is getting the Groom's Cake in FH's favorite flavor (Carrot Cake) - I'm not fond of Carrot Cake so that's why we are not going to be doing that for the wedding cake. I figured it will get cut up with the rest of the wedding cake and whoever wants a piece can have it (but apparantly only 15 people LOL)

But how big is the cake that you are planning on getting (like how much are you paying vs. how many people the cake feeds)? I just want to know if I'm getting a good quote or not.

Re: Girls who have done/are doing Groom's Cakes
i love you ladies. I never thought of having the grooms cake for the rehearsal dinner!!! I originally thought it wasnt practical to have it for the wedding but it would be perfecttt for the RD.
Can you ladies tell me who you are using, etc? And what price ranges to expect?
Are you using the same place that is doing your wedding cake??

Re: Girls who have done/are doing Groom's Cakes
we had guests request to have a slice of the grooms cake and our RH sliced it up for them. I think our cake was supposed to feed about 15 people.

Re: Girls who have done/are doing Groom's Cakes
I had the grooms cake brought out right before we cut our wedding cake, it was made to serve about 50 people. They never cut into it during the reception, so the next day I cut it into 3 sections-one for us, his parents, and my moms house, the cake tasted soooo good, and was still good after sitting in our fridge for a week when we got back from the HM.
Here are the pics of the cake

Re: Girls who have done/are doing Groom's Cakes
In all honesty I have never been to a wedding in which we have eaten the grooms cake. Some of the weddings did not have a grooms cake and also did not have elaborate ones. I think a cake for 15 people would be fine.
