Some of my girls went to get measured for their dresses yesterday. Jim Hjelm dresses must run extremely small because my sister who is a size 2 was measured for a size 8 dress. Other girl was measured for a size 22 (in real life she is probably a 12) and she had to pay extra for her size! Im so upset!!!!!! Just because the dresses run small and she is stuck with that size, now she has to pay $40 extra! The dresses are already expensive and now this. This is so riduclous!!!!!!! Do you think that if I call the place i ordered from, they can do anything? I was thinking of putting out the xtra $$ for her.

I am having the exact same problem. My MOH is very small and will have to order a size 10!! I thought it was just Jim Hjelm until I had to order a much larger size for another wedding I'm in and that designer was Bill Levkoff. So it seems to me that bridesmaid dress sizes in general run much much smaller. I don't know if the salon will do anything for you but it doesn't hurt to ask.
wow..that is pretty small...i mean most do run small already but thats a lot! i mean i am a bm in my bfs wedding and I ordered a 10 although i am really a 6! i would call and try to get some sort of discount based on the # of gowns you're ordering....its worth a shot!

I had the same problem. One is my girls is an 8 at best and had to order a 14! I guess its the way they are cut.

I was thinking about that but she already gave me a huge discount on the dresses. like $55 off each dress. I looked on the Jim Hjelm size chart and it does say there is an extra charge for sizes 20 and over. So if its from the manufacturer I doubt the store can do anything....

Wowza! That's crazy! I thought we'd order Jim Hjelm but we chose WTOO. Now I'm really happy I dont have to deal with that!

They do run small but I dont think they run THAT small. I ordered a size 8 for my cousins wedding and I am normally a 4... maybe a 6 back then cause i was heavier. I would call and complain, she shouldnt have to pay the extra money just cause their dresses run incredibly small, JMO

i understand the frustration!!! that is so annoying!! that has happened to me several times before b/c i am an 'hour glass' shape... it's either too small on top and big on the bottom or vice versa... always have to order the bigger size because it's easier to take it in!

They definitley run small and unfortunately no one told us this when we were ordering them for my friends wedding (she got married last month). So we had a lot of bridesmaids that didn't fit into there dresses because they should have ordered at least a size bigger. They had to order some of us new ones and they came in only 5 days before the wedding! It's a good thing that they told you before hand.

Most BM dresses run small as most are cut from european sizes. The consultant who measured you guys has to go with the size that accomodates the largest measurement. So if your BMs have large breasts but tiny waists and hips they will have to go with a larger size and take the waist and hips in...it ***** but these dresses are not custom made. The extra size thing is so frustrating...most of the designers do charge extra...other than Alfred Angelo i think

Yeah She has a large chest which is why they ordered her such a large size! Its just annoying because these dresses are expensive to begin with...

That's really bizarre...I know that Jim Hjelm runs small, but my sister and myself both measured true to size for our BM dresses last year (assuming juniors sizes, not misses). Depending on the store, I can be a 4 or 6 misses, but I'm always an 8 juniors, and that's what I had to order for the BM dresses. Maybe they just run off juniors?

I m not sure if they go off junior sizes- I wouldnt think so though. They went off her chest size (which is larger than the rest of her body). I just cant believe she was up 10 sizes!! ( she wears a 12 normaly). They make you feel go great about yourself!

I had the same problem, so instead of going through the store i took all the girls' money and ordered through netbride.com. my $220 dresses were $147, and then i didnt feel as guilty about the $40 over-size-20 charge.

Yea my BM dresses are Jim Hjelm and my consultant told me to keep in mind that they run as junior cuts which she said is approx 2 sizes smaller then your regular clothes size

My BM is normally a 14 and they were trying to order her a size 20W. I swear she was gonna punch the woman in the face. My other GM is a 10ish and they were getting her a 16! So I think it's all dresses. Even my wedding gown is a size 10 and I wear a size 6 normally.

Im just annoyed that because their size chart runs small people who aren't normally larger sizes have to order them and pay extra! Just another way to get money out of people!

Like most dresses, you have to order the size where you are the biggest. So if your sister has a big chest and the measurement is that of an 8 then they give her an 8 even though her hips and waist are for a 2. It's a lot easier to take in a dress than have to let it out. Trust me, I know from experience as one of my BMs refused to get a larger size and her dress didn't fit at all!
