Ok...I'm at a healthy weight, and pretty much have always been (thanks to good genetics), but I've gained 5-7 pounds since the end of college that I'd like to lose for the wedding.
I've been working out since the beginning of Jan (30-45 min cardio 5x week and strength training 25 min 2-3x week).
From my initial weight, I thought I had lost about 5 pounds in the first month (according to week 4 weigh-in), which I was really excited about, but now EVERYTIME i step on the scale I am getting a different number, sometimes higher than my original weight, sometimes 2 -3 pounds less, never back to that '5 pounds less' #.
I just feel like I'm not making ANY progress.
Does anyone have any tips, suggestions? Support? Been through this?
Thanks!

omg i totally understand where you're coming from. are you weighing yourself everyday? if you weigh yourself once a week, you might see a difference. also, i just recently got one of those scales that measure your body fat, water weight, muscle mass etc. sometimes even though your actual weight is not going down, your body fat is, and if this is the case, what you're doing is working. also if youre eating a lot of sodium, it could just be water retention and bloating. a certain amount of salt a day can add an extra pound to your weight.

I definitely don't eat too much sodium, but I still prob have dessert too often! This is SO frustrating.
I'm weighing myself 1-2x per week, not every day, but sometimes I think everyday would be better because then i'd get used to the fluctuations.
This is so frustrating.
Thanks, ladies

I'm sort of in the same boat, hall twin!!! I'm pretty regular, but I want to loose more like 8 pounds. I've been really changing my diet and exercising a lot more - haven't lost any weight. BUT, my clothes fit different and everyone says how thin I look. So, maybe my scale is different. Or maybe the new muscle is just heavier...could that be it?

Hi Hall Twin!
I'm seriously starting to think there is something wrong with the scale.
FH says he sees a difference...and I can't imagine I could go from not working out for 2 years to working out 5x a week and not have anything change.
Argh. It's so frustrating!
We'll just keep up the hard work, right?!

well if you weight train you are building muscle, which weighs more than fat. You are better off measuring yourself rather than weighing. More muscle means you have a higher matabolism.. You can only rely on numbers on a scale so much. Those numbers dont tell you the whole picutre.

I'm right there with ya. My trainer told me to not look at the #'s on the scale but it's hard not to look. I want to lose 10 more pounds and I don't see the weight dropping.... ugh. so frustrating!

Re: Girls who have lost weigh/are into fitness...
Sometimes it takes a while for your body composition to make changes. During that time you may not see a lot of weight loss. If you are doing significant weight training you also might be gaining muscle mass in place of body fat. That is a good thing, however muscle weighs more, which may lead to what you are seeing on the scale.
IMO weigh yourself once a week and start taking measurements! It is very common to see a more considerable loss in inches, rather than loss in pounds, due to your body composition making the change.

I'm holding off on measuring myself until the end of the month, but I hope there are results!
Thank you!

You might need to change your workout alittle try something new that is more challenging. You body becomes adjusted to workouts and you have to take it up a notch. Try running.
