My parents went to a wedding where Heat & Soul were playing. We were all really excited because they would get to hear them at an entire wedding before mine. I just got a call from them and they weren't pleased at all, I was expecting the complete opposite. They said that they hardly played any songs that people could dance to before the cutting of the cake. All the songs were mellow more coctail hour songs and only after the cake cutting was when more upbeat, dancable songs were played. At that point people were already starting to leave. I have read nothing but good things about them on this site, so I am thinking that the bride requested certain songs and that is why the songs were played as they were. I want people on the dance floor all night long, so my question to you girls is should I just pick more dancable songs, tell the band the situation, give them a list?

i think that is probably how the couple did the playlist and not heart & souls fault at all. I am guessing they do take playlists from couples so you definitely can do that...alot of times couples give a playlist of songs they like without really thinking whether or not these are songs that will get the crowd up.

I totally agree with this. I saw them at a showcase and they were INSANE. Everything they played was TOTALLY danceable. I'm sure that the bride and groom gave them a song selection and/or described the type of songs to be played.
