Girls who want to get preggers right away

Original post by StaceyWill

So, I'm sitting here thinking-wow- I could possibly be preggers in 4 or 5 months. Then, my next thought flashed to- ok, so who’s going to take care of this kid once it’s born? FH and I both have to work (unfortunately) and my mom has already said she’s not going to do it (even though she’s prob only messing with me). What do you girls plan on doing?

that's the reason why we are not going to have children right away. i want to enjoy being married...not be a mommy right after my wedding. sounds a little selfish, i know.....but its the way i feel

That's how FH and I feel too! Babies sound nice, but I just have no motivation to have them, and may not ever..FH has no desire to be a daddy either - to him, babies mean lots of time and $$$ which we aren't exactly full of!

no idea...the thought of having children scares me... raising them, providing for them...
FH feels the same way, we want to enjoy a little more of married life together before having kids.

fh talked about me staying home

but i doubt i will let that happen

i would do it in a heartbeat if we could afford it...

As would I, I would LOVE to be a stay at home...just not right after marriage. Maybe in 4 years.

DITTO!!!

Please, I have been working since I was 15 years old, I need a break!!!

Be careful what you wish for. I have a few friends who are stay at home mothers and they would never refer to it as a break!

I would LOVE to work from home. If i cant figure out how to do that than its going to be up to FH (he is a fireman so he can have 3 days in a row off) & a babysitter. Possibly also some help from his parents too.

Same here, FH is a fireman so his schedule is ideal and mine CAN be flexible at my current job! We talk about it but i'm really not up to the responsibility yet; I want to be married

we will be waiting a few years but with a mortgage (with the eventual house we hope to buy) we could not afford it on just one salary so we will probably look for someone to watch our kid

My mom is retired and lives in Queens, hopefully I could work something out with her. FH's mom lives down the block but she works. Having one of our moms around is the best case scenario.

As for staying at home, I doubt we could do that with the mortgage. FH said if I made enough, he'd stay at home I give him credit because I couldn't. I'd have to work part time at least.

I want to have kids soon after we get married, and I want to stay home, but the problem with being a teacher is that you can only take 1-2 years leave, depending on your district....so I either have to decide to give up my job and stay home, or put my child in day care after a year or two...When I think about it, it tears me up inside knowing how hard I worked to get where I am, and how much I want a family...

We are going to pay a friend of ours $200 a week for the first year to take care of said baby and then day care.

I could never do the stay at home thing,

I am self-employed with flexible hours and my mother will be around to help too.

FH and i will not try right away - not even sure if we want kids

i should be able to stay home in 4-5 years when fh reaches top pay

if it is before than my mom doesnt work so the baby will stay with her

We are lucky enough that our fields usually offer free or discounted day cares at the places we will work. We originally didn't plan on trying for quite a few years, but boy does married life change that! We might try sooner (but not now!) :).

FH and I want to try and get preggers in Aug/Sept so this way the baby will be due when my mom is done with the school year next year and then she can come spend the whole summer with us (And hopefully look for a house down here). And I really do not want to be 9 months preggers in Aug here, lol.

We aren't planning to have a baby until about 6-6.5 years from now...so at that point, I am hoping that FH makes enough + I have enough freelance jobs that I can stay at home and freelance several days. I don't know if I could stay at home ALL the time though..but my Mom doesn't work, so she can watch the baby. My Dad probably isn't going to retire, but if he does, he would watch the baby too. FH's parents are a little young, so I don't think they will be retired yet.

We aren't planning to start trying for a couple of years, but when the time does come we are very lucky that my mother and her boyfriend live right downstairs and her boyfriend works from home. Also FMIL only works part-time. I am also currently trying to start up my own business where I can do the majority of the work from home.
