Girls who wear contacts...

Ok, this is probably a bunch of really stupid questions...but.....I don't know anyone who wears contacts!!!! I'm gonna get them just so I don't end up wearing my big black framed glasses to my wedding (and I am totally blind without them). SO I have some questions....

How much do they typically cost? How often do they need to get replaced? Also, if I cry like a baby on my wedding day, will they screwed up? is there anything else I should know?

I usually get a 6 month supply... (technically)... but i dont use them everyday... i wear my glasses too... so it lasts longer than 6 months...

You have to talk to your doctor about all of this - there are a ton of different kinds. They have ones that last for 2 weeks before you change them, then they have ones that have to be changed every day. The daily disposables are more expensive than the 2 week disposables.

Crying definitely will not screw up your contacts! But if you're going to get them, I would look into this ASAP b/c you want to make sure you get used to using them, putting them in, etc. before the big day.

i used to wear contacts but they just didn't fit right in my eyes (pupils are a certain diameter ... and contacts come in certain sizes only ... it's rare, but it happens that you can be between sizes like i was)

anyway, i used to get the 2 week disposable ones (you can wear them for 2 weeks assuming you clean them nightly) and they cost about $100-ish for a year's supply (more if you wear them for more than 2 weeks)

they shouldn't move or fall out, even if you cry

And as long as you dont rub your eyes, even if you cry you'll be fine.

Also shop around for the best price...lens.com is good and costco also has them for cheap. I also got mail in rebates from lens.com

I'm a late-in-life contact user, and I agree with the above girls - make sure you do it soon b/c it took me SO LONG to get used to them!!!

Mine are monthlies, but I use them for longer and they're $45 for a 6 month supply (I think they're Acuvue Oasys).

You should try to get them with enough time to get used to them before your wedding day...like, start wearing them a couple of weeks beforehand.

Crying won't make them fall out or anything. I've worn contacts for half my life and I cry like a little b!tch at times.

I usually get a one year's supply, and my contacts are the kind that are worn for 2 weeks and them thrown out. I wear Acuvue 2 and a one-year supply is usually just over $100. Maybe about $125?

There are different types...ones that you wear for one day and throw out, ones you can wear overnight, etc. I personally don't like the idea of keeping them in overnight...your eyes need to clean themselves when you're sleeping, know what I mean?

And when you first get them...make sure your fingernails are short, otherwise when you first get used to taking them out, you might poke your eyeball with your nail.

hah.. i am actually going to the eye dr in 10 minutes for new ones! i wear acuvue oaysis and for a month. the last year i have been having some crazy eye allegery issues, so i am planning to switch to daily's as the fr suggested last year.
crying is def OK... i cry alot LOL!

I've been wearing contacts for over 15 years now. I cant imagine living life without contacts.

I also cant imagine the idea of wearing glasses on your wedding day. Hopefully I wont offend anyone but I just think brides who wear glasses on their wedding day do not look good. Contacts makes your life so MUCH EASIER. You can run and exercise w. dealing w/ glasses running down your nose..you can take a shower and just close your eyes to wash your hair,,you can lie sideways in bed and still watch TV (try doing that w regular glasses!!).

I think contacts are def the way to go..And nowadays, they are so easy to get, to order and maintain...I get a 6 month supply and wear all kinds of colors from clear to hazel to green..I love them!!

Like a medical condition that prevents the brnide from wearing contacts? Obviously, if they cant wear contacts, then glasses are the way to go. When I wore glasses though (junior high), each time they took our pictures for the school yearbook or any other formal event, I would remove my glasses for just the picture..I just dont like seeing ME in glasses...and personally dont find it appealing, but its that brides wedding day so she should do what she wants anyway!! why should my opinion matter, right?

You dont like seeing you in glasses and you dont find it appealing. And thats you! But I have worn glasses for years and you know what ...I dont think I look all that bad in them. And your right- your opinion doesnt matter its just that you said you hope you dont offend anyone and you offended me

Get them ASAP. I'm going to be 24 and I never wore contacts and I'm still getting use to them. I went to Cohen's since I know someone there. The eye exam and contacts are $100. If you wear them everyday they will last you 3 months. Luckily, FH has been wearing contacts for 15 years so he helps me. lol

I didn't want to wear glasses on my wedding day either.

Finally, something i know about(this is what i do for work) First and eye exam. At my vision center its $85. you will have to be trained to wear them(it a hour long class) then you come back a week later so doc can check you out and then order them... ps we are just as cheap as ordering online
