For those of you doing a Catholic Ceremony, are you going to be kneeling in front of the altar? I always imagined at my wedding we would just be standing in front of everyone the whole ceremony with the bridal party standing on either side, but just recently found out that at most Catholic ceremonies the bride and groom kneel in front of the altar, or can decide to sit down in the front row when they aren't standing or saying their vows. AND the bridal party sits in the front rows, while the best man and maid of honor stand up with us, and kneel when we do? I really want the bridal party standing up with us like at traditional weddings. I know Catholic ceremonies aren't exactly quick, probably 30-45 mins...is anybody choosing to stand the whole time? I know it's my choice, when I asked the church about standing they said my feet would end up killing me...and if I wanted the bridal party to stand with me, I'm sure their feet would hurt as well and I don't want to have to put them through that. I'm just having the ceremony, not the mass but I was told it's only like a 15 min. difference between the 2.
What do you think??
Thanks girls!!!!!!!!!

Re: Girls with a Catholic Ceremony
I'm having a mass and we will sit on the alter with the MOH and BM. From what I know you only kneel at certain points of the mass. The rest of the bridal party will be seated in the front pews. I would discuss this with your church to be sure.

Are they pulling chairs up to the altar for you guys to sit on? I guess I just thought that if you are only having a ceremony, it would be short and the bridal party would stand up at the altar with you. I love how that looks, and want them to stand out, not be seated with everyone else...

At my mass, the church set up chairs for us and the MOH and GM in front of the altar. The bridal party sat in a pew in the front. We stood, knelt, and sat when you would expect to. I t never occurred to me to do anything else. In general, churches are pretty inflexible, but ask your presider.
Also a mass and ceremony only differ by like 10 minutes in length.

no way..... I would have passed out.... at bare minimum my feet would have ached after standing for 50 min.
we sat in chairs to the side of the altar. We stood during our vows, and we kneeled during communion. it worked out perfectly

Okay, sounds like the norm then. I know my feet would be killing me after 15 minutes, let alone almost an hour!! Thanks girls!
