Girls with Bill Levkoff Dresses

My bm just told me today that they ordered her a size that was 8 sizes larger than her street size (normally 14, ordered her a 22)- my sister is normally a 2 and they ordered her a 4, my fsil is normally a 10 and they got her a 12

I think the bridal shop is ripping off my friend, since its a plus size, she had to pay more

I dont think they are ripping her off. I got Bill Levkoff, and they went a size or two up depending on the girls frame.

i dont know, they ordered everyone what i thought their dresses sizes normally are - my girls were ordered sizes 2, 4 and an 8 - and they probably wear that size or smaller in regular clothes

yeah that doesnt seem right - how is her body? is she in porportion? or maybe she might meet the chest measurement for the larger size - or the hip measurement for the larger size and so the dress size is based on the measurement of one body part? get what im saying?

she's pretty evenly shaped- like an hourglass I guess, nothing is larger or out of proportion

I think they are ripping her off. I am wearing a Bill Levkoff for my friends wedding they ordered me an 8 and I normally wear a 6 and when I tried the dress on it was a little big but not by much. 8 sizes just seems like a lot. I've heard of 1-2 sizes, but never 8. I would ask them if they have a Bill Levkoff dress sample in a size 22 for her to try on and if they don't I'd go somewhere else to get measured and see if she got the right measurements.

from a 14 to a 22 is 2 much. does she have a a large bust or waist?

all of my girls ordered 1 size larger than their street size.

they did that to me at lillette's last year for my MOH wedding...i used to wear a 12 (im an 8 now...woohoo) and they made me order a 20!

well when i got it, you could have fit 2 of me in it! i'm lucky that they capped the alterations cuz they had to take it in 3 times and it was still too big! but i did not think they were very good with BM alterations to begin with...we ALL had problems with our dresses. Her wedding dress was perfect though!

I'm sure they will be ok after alterations...but it seemed a little shady to me to! Y would i need that big of a dress?

yea thats what I'm afraid of- they charged her $50 additional for the plus size- which I REALLY DONT think she needed and now she'll be charged $75 for alterations- if her dress is bigger- I am gonna go bridezilla on them

My girls wore BL dresses and ordered up from their regular size...

my sis who is a 2, sometimes a 0 ordered a 4 - it was a little big on her but it goes by your biggest measurement and I think anything smaller would have been too small

my biggest BM is an 8 (i think) and she got a 12 and it was snug -- i think she lost 1-2 lbs and it fit perfectly for the wedding

some designers run REALLY small. I'm usually a 2-4, and fit perfectly into the size 10 sample of my wedding dress. i lost about 6 lbs bw ordering it and my wedding day (i was at my highest weight and knew i'd be losing a few but we still ordered the 12 just to be safe). my dress was big when it came in, but they altered it to fit me perfectly. i'm not particularly curvy (i'm more rectangular) so they had to take it in more for my boobs and hips.
it's possible that her stomach or boobs were bigger, so the rest of hte dress had to be bigger to accommodate that

What we were told is that wedding and BM dresses are sized differently than regular clothing so your dress size will be larger than your street size. However, all of my bridesmaids were measured for sizes way too large for them. They all changed their sizing down one or two and still had to get them altered.

I would have your MB who was sized as a 22 be re-measured or change her size to an 18. A 22 sounds way too large. Keep in mind there is about 1-2 inches that can be let out in each side of the dress.

I am using a Bill Levkoff tea-length dress in euro satin.
