Girls with Cats - Female cats - Update - Claude is ok!
Have they ever had a urinary infection? My little Claudette has one I think and I'm concerned. Everything I've read says its worse for male cats, and that it clears up in female cats w/in 5-7 days, regardless of treatment. I'm ready to take her to the cat ER! Anyone every experience this?

sophie had one really bad (i know she's dog) but it was still bad, she had blood in her urine. you'll be fine if you take her to the regular vet. they will put her on an antibiotic i'm sure. we took sophie to the animal er only b/c we were really scared about the blood, and b/c we weren't sure if it was related to her rat poision incident. thank god it wasn't.
but i would call tomorrow and get her in there.

Oh my poor little claudette!! She seems fine - she's running around with a ball in her mouth - but I get so worried! Asthma-cat Mima has made me super paranoid w/my animals.
i have a female kitty, and as far as i know, she's never had a UTI. i know, not much help, but i hope little claudette is OK!!!

I'm surprised it should clear up regardless of treatment - it's a bacteria so how does that work? My male cat has had one and we gave him antibiotics. I hope Claudette feels better!

I read that there is no evidence that feline UTI's are actually caused by bacteria? I have no idea!

That's so bizarre, since they treat it with ANTIbiotics!!
What is she doing that is making you think she has one?

I saw a trace of blood in her urine and she has been in and out of the litter box 90789077 times in the last 3 hours. Other than that, she's acting fine, and running around like a nut. My poor baby!

Just the blood in her peep, and frequent trips to the litter box.

Heather there is a special kitty litter that turns a different color if your cat does, in fact, have a urinary tract infection. It might be worth looking in to for tomorrow before running to the vet. I will see if I can find it online to show it to you!
