girls with ivory gowns

ok so fh and i went to the tux place yesterday and i know there was a post on this already....buttttt.............i couldnt find it...........for those of you who have ivory dresses, did your fh get an ivory vest with a white shirt or an ivory shirt? the guy at the place said we had to get ivory so it didnt make my dress look bad but i told him i wanted to see the white with it as well...which fh was mad at me for asking him to do at first 'the guy knows what he is talking about' he tells me, soooo he brings out the shirts and we see the white one first...it looked really nice and then he shows us the yellow i mean ivory shirt and it looked gross....its YELLOW.......so we went with the white shirt and ivory vest but he told fh that him or the groomsmen cannot take off their jacket if they are taking pictures with me because my dress is not white....its like offwhite bc my dress is not yellow..............soooo point of my vent......do any of u gurls who did this white shirt with ivory vest thingh have any pics of u and fh/dh with his jacket off and u??

i'm in the same boat girl! i posted a similar question before. we put him down with the ivory vest and white shirt (i was thinking it was going to be weird also). my mom was in town a couple of weeks ago - we went to see my dress, i picked up a swatch i had ordered and we stopped at the tux shop with it. seeing it next to my dress I came up with a couple of things
1. white vest WOULD make my dress look dingy - i was surprised as the ivory looks nearly white when you have it on..
2. we put the ivory vest next to the white shirt - its fine! 10 times better than the ivory shirt - i AGREE with u on that one - totally looks yellow!

yeah exactly it looked so dirty and dingy!!! i couldnt believe i looked at fh and he was like no way lol.....but my dress is ivoryish but the lace over it i believe is white bc my dress looks white in pics ive taken.....but maybe thats cause i was not next to anyone in white lol i hope it doesnt look bad in pics i cant imagine it would tho

yeah - at the end of the day its going to look like...
bride in white
groom in white and 'off white'

most of us on here did ivory vest with a white shirt and it looks fine. we didn't take too many pictures where DH had his jacket off so I don't know about it looking bad; all the pictures I've seen of everyone elses look fine.

thanks, btw fh picked out the same shirt ur dh wore.......the pics look good i dont know what that guy is talking about

DH didnt take off his jacket the whole time so I can't tell. They all had ivoryshirts, but it wasnt a yellowy ivory. Also, he wore a platinum vest.

But if you have white lace over ivory, I would think it would be fine. Go back there when you get a swatch of your dress and you can always change their shirts.

DH wore an ivory shirt and an ivory vest
the differences are SO slight that you cannot tell unless they are next to each other

we picked all ivory for the shirt, tie, and vest.

it looked white (not yellow at all) to me so i didnt even question it...ours are from dante zeller.

The contrast with the ivory vest and tie with the white shirt is crisp and clean and doesn't make your ivory dress look dirty at all. In person and in pictures the combo looks clean and classy. To me that's an old wives tale of the white shirt making an ivory dress look dirty, because 1-my dress didn't look dirty and 2- no bride's dress on here that was ivory who's DH wore a white shirt looked dirty. These tux people need to get a clue. I mean, maybe there are some ivory tux shirts that don't look dingy but we went to a few places and the ones I saw all did. Go with white.

We went w/ ivory shirt and and ivory tone on tone tie and vest. I had taken a swatch of my gown just to be sure. The ivory of my gown, as well as FH's shirt was very 'white' and not yellowy at all.
