ok so fh and i went to the tux place yesterday and i know there was a post on this already....buttttt.............i couldnt find it...........for those of you who have ivory dresses, did your fh get an ivory vest with a white shirt or an ivory shirt? the guy at the place said we had to get ivory so it didnt make my dress look bad but i told him i wanted to see the white with it as well...which fh was mad at me for asking him to do at first 'the guy knows what he is talking about' he tells me, soooo he brings out the shirts and we see the white one first...it looked really nice and then he shows us the yellow i mean ivory shirt and it looked gross....its YELLOW.......so we went with the white shirt and ivory vest but he told fh that him or the groomsmen cannot take off their jacket if they are taking pictures with me because my dress is not white....its like offwhite bc my dress is not yellow..............soooo point of my vent......do any of u gurls who did this white shirt with ivory vest thingh have any pics of u and fh/dh with his jacket off and u??

personally i don't like the look of an ivory vest with a white shirt at all ....
i know the 'yellow' ivory you are talking about, and i think you have to check out other tuxedo shops.
my dh wore all ivory, it matched my gown perfectly and was not the least bit yellow or dingy.

i just looked at my pics and I think DH shirt was ivory too. Honestly I didnt even notice until this post.
Besides isnt it all about the Bride???

It IS all about the bride ... but a white shirt on the groom really can make an ivory wedding gown look 'off'

Dh wore ivory on ivory. And the grooms also wore ivory shirts (wine colored vests).

my dress was a very dark shade of ivory and DH wore a white shirt with ivory vest and tie.. and to be honest it was perfect.. b/c there is a really good chance that the ivory from the tux place wont match your dress either. so i say do both that way your covered i think it looked really nice!
ETA: we did a ivory on ivory stripe so that it was broken up a little .. heres a good pic of the color
My dress is a very creamy ivory. We are doing white shirt. The ivory short looked bad. But I think it all depends on the shirt (brand etc).

We did all ivory. The GM wore ivory shirts. Nothing looked yellow at all.

FH has an ivory vest with and ivory shirt and ivory tie. And all the groomsman and my dad have ivory shirts so when they stand next to me it wont look funny.

My dress is ivory lace and the guy at the tuxedo place said that FH should wear an ivory shirt, vest, and tie. All the groomsmen are wearing ivory shirts as well. I was told that my ivory dress will look dingy next to the white shirts which is why ivory shirts were suggested.

this will also depend alot on the shade of ivory your dress is, some are lighter than others. Also on the ivory the tux shop carries.
I wore an ivory dress but didnt look yellow at all. Dh also wore ivory on ivory and again didnt look yellow at all either. IT went well with my dress

I think DH ahd an ivory shirt... here is a close up pic but I cant tell....
Dh did ivory on ivory. His wasn't a very 'yellow-y' kind. It probably depends on the manufacturer of the shirt. I think they work well if you get the shade you want.
