how did you go about ordering bridesmaids dresses? Did you have everyone with you so that they could take measurements? Do all of the dresses need to be ordered at once or can the girls go in there on their own time and order them? I am a little lost on this... I have 10 girls and want to order dresses soon.
ETA: thanks ladies... how far in advance are you supposed to order dresses? I keep hearing different things... our wedding is in December.

They went on their own time... mainly because half of them lived outside of NY...

I went to the place and gave them all the information including the girls names. then, one by one each girl made it up there, to get measured, and pay the deposit. After all girls were measured they automatically placed the order.

They (the bridal store) will order the dresses at the same time since they all need to be from the same dye lot - some times colors/shades can be slightly different.
I had my BM's (8) go in at will and get sized when they could but I gave them a deadline as to when it needed to be done so make sure all the dresses were ordered earlier enough to get them in and have everyone get alterations.

I went w/ half the bridal party one day, and the other half the week after since they couldn't all go the same day. They don't all need to be ordered the same day, but I would def give them a deadline of when it needs to be done by

Thanks Kristy!!! I called and they said to give the girls 2 weeks... so I told them that I want to order them by May 8... is that too short notice? I don't want to just spring it on them!

i have 7 girls in my bridal party. I'm getting married in Sept and i ordered my dresses in jan/feb. originally i had most of the girls there to get their measurements etc but eventually i ended up picking a dress without all of them there and got all their measurement via email. I say give it 4 - 5 months before the wedding maybe even 6 months before you order the dresses. It takes about 3 months for the dresses to come in and they will all need alternations most likely.

I just emailed them all which dress and color and told them to order by the begining of June. I'm getting married in October but they are getting them from davids bridal and they come in super fast! I ordered a dress for my friends wedding and they called us in 2 days to come pick them up!!

That's what I did... or those of them who didnt live here sent their measurements in by a certain date and paid by CC over the phone.... one of my BMs from S. Carolina went into a local bridal store and tried on the Alfred Angelo dress she wanted and just placed the order with my dress store!

I havent gotten to that yet....but I plan on letting everyone go on their own time...If I am able to meet them there, I will. But I am def not trying to Coordinate a date for everyone to go at once (I have 12 girls)
