I would never ask my guests for money

IMO.... I really dont think that's a good idea. Maybe you can do the dollar dance........ Edit Post - I actually have a couple of people offering me $2 not to have to get up and dance!!!

How about this idea:

Have a little fish bowl on each table and some blank cards. Ask everyone to right something to the bride and groom - advice, best wishes, etc. Then when it's time to give away the centerpieces you can have a name drawn from each bowl and that will be the winner?

maybe you can have your hall put a piece of paper under one person's plate at each table.. the person with the piece of paper under the plate keeps the centerpiece.

or, you can do the thing with the napkin.. almost like a hot potatoe thing..

DEF ask your band/dj.. don't kill yourself thinking of ideas when they do this all teh time and can help you..

Good luck!

I've been to weddings where someone at the table is asked to get a $1 bill and it gets passsed aroung from person to person at the table. When the music stops the person left with the doller gets the centerpeice.
Or
The person with the closest birthday to that day out of their table gets it.

But I dont think i would ask everyone to 'buck up' I hate giving up my singles. Between tipping the bartenders and the valet I need them.

I've been to a wedding where they did the pass the dollar thing...and the person holding the dollar...got to keep the dollar...the person who put the dollar up...got the CP. I thought that was cute too.

Well I dont really like the idea of everyone putting in $$.
Usually I thought either you put a penny under 1 plate... or you pass the napkin around to the music.
I have also heard of the bday closest to the wedding day.. thats another cute idea.. I think I like the napkin idea the best!!

Sorry - I don't understand the purpose of the raffle. Do you give them the money and the centerpiece?
Do you want people to stop dancing to do this?
I don't think I'd participate.
Why not just put a gold star or something under a plate and make an announcement that they can take it home?
the simpler the better

For my sister's shower we put a baby picture of my sister and her DH under the plate at each table.

The DJ will annouce that someone at the table take out a $1 bill and it gets passsed around

BUT

when the music stops the person who took out the dollar gets the c.piece and the person holding the dollar keeps it,,,

I thought it was a cute idea and the most 'giving person gets the prize' JMO

I'm letting the guests fend for themselves on this one! *lol* - I really dont want to have the Band stop all the dancing and music so they can figure out who is going to take the flowers. Chances are its going to be the one pushy person at the table - but i dont care- they are all adults - they can work it out on their own.

Ask your hall if they provide the service of collecting the centerpieces before the very end of the wedding, and breaking them up into bouquets for the women to take home. My brother did this and it was very very sweet. My sil bought rolls of cellophane and some ribbon to wrap them in, and 3 hall employees turned into a 'florist' so to speak.

Same here.

BTW, I don't think I've ever been to a wedding where they did something specfically for who gets the CP.
