not only that if someone pranks your home phone and I guess work too and is a private number if you call verizon there is some code you press after you get a calll and they can get the number! the police dept I heard can do this too!

Yep, Tammy, you're right.

Someone here at my job was being harrassed via phone calls (actually, the person doing the harrassing had the wrong phone number..idiot..lol). Caller ID didn't pull it up, because it was a blocked cell phone. Sure enough, our IT department got the number via their mysterious ways, got to the bottom of who it was....and it was curtains.

I think your company can easily trace the calls. Most companies have caller id's these days I'm surprised your doesn't.

I don't think these people relize how easy it is to trace these call and VM's. Same thing happened to me--IT tracked them down, and my company pressed charges.

That's crazy. We don't have caller ID at my office, but we do have a number that we press after getting a prank and it traces the call automatically and leaves a record of it. We set this up with the police department after someone called our office saying that one of our bosses' daughters had died. Thank god it turned out to be not true, but my boss went thru hell for a few minutes

Can all calls be traced?? Even if you press * whatever?? so that called ID will be disbaled?

i think the individual cannot trace them...but the phone company has records I'm sure...

With the system we have in the office, ALL calls can be traced.

Alicia: Unfortunately, we never found out who did it b/c we set this up after it happened. The person never called back. I don't understand how someone could be so cruel

I think it is *67 or something like that - I had a lot of hangups (like 20 in a day)about 3 years ago and used that until I got caller ID. If you dial that (double check it) then it is reported to the police and the phone company so if you need to bring charges they have the number on file.

I don't know if that would work going through an office phone system. *69 and things like that wouldn't work on my office phones.

IT & the phone sevice company should be able to figure it out.

I feel very sad for this loser, they have nothing better to do then harass people.THAT'sprobably why that have no friends to call!!!!! THEY ARE Bullys and pathetic. I hope your job truly does press charges
