Re: Glen Cove, Glen Head?
They are both beautiful areas. The only thing is that there is one section of each area that is sketchy so just be careful with what you buy. The only other negative (for FH and me) and is that the train line is inconvenient for the city.

Re: Glen Cove, Glen Head?
What are you particularly looking to know about each?
i'm from glen cove, its veryyy nice. However, just like any other place it has its not so nice areas and it has some GREAT areas. It's its own City, and it has a nice little area known at 'the village' and it has cute little shops and places to eat. The thing is the school district isnt the greatest. Myself as well as all my friends there went to catholic school. I know everything about the area so FM me if you need anything else!!
Oh and Glen Head is nice as well, i have family that live there and love it. Better schools too

go to www.mta.info and look at the LIRR schedules for any area you are looking to go to. This helped us sooo much in making our decision in what areas we are looking at.

Re: Glen Cove, Glen Head?
I currently live in Glen Cove. Its kind of a big town (actually, I think it is considered a 'city'). There are nice areas and bad areas. I actually get kind of confused when people say how beautiful it is b/c my area is so-so. I have heard mixed reviews about the school district too. Also, since it is so far north, everything seems to be at least a half hour away.
The train line is TERRIBLE. Not only do the trains come infrequently, sometimes, they don't come at all. I always take the train from Manhasset, never Glen Cove.
FM me if you want more info.

i just moved to glen cove, to an apartment tho...i love it here but its def far from what we are used to (we always lived in areas by the southern state lol) and fh went to take the train to the city over the weekend and realized that they barely ran so i drove him to mineola (ill have to find out where the manhassat one is next time) but its a really cute area and i like it here

Re: Glen Cove, Glen Head?
its sometimes a PITA getting in and out of GC. Cause unless you know back roads through locust valley and brookville, then you pretty much just use glen cove road. and in the afternoon it gets pretty crowded.. Oh but they have the St Roccos feast every year in July and they have the best food ever. All the more reason to live there hahaha (figures i'd think of food)

Re: Glen Cove, Glen Head?
We looked at a few houses there, they were awful!!! Missing stairs, awful stench.... The towns are both really cute and quaint. Depending on where you live you can be North Shore School District where several of my friends went and said good things about it and Glen Cove, I know nothing about.
Since the Market is expected to come down more we're weighing the options. Neither one of us are handy or the do it yourself type, so we may give it another year to purchase . We're hoping we will get more for our money. We looked at an apt. complex, since we have out grown our current and Petey has become an issue It's right on Glen Cove Rd (aka Route 107) all the way north, (right across from the Metropolitian where we're getting hitched). Lovely building! Con- 107 is the only way i & out towards Hicksville Train Station where FH will most likely leave from. His office is in Manhattan but he has sites all over the 5 bouroughs so he needs the hub station.
Sorry Bon, I wrote a mini novel & shared way to much, hope it helps you tho
