They are both beautiful areas. The only thing is that there is one section of each area that is sketchy so just be careful with what you buy. The only other negative (for FH and me) and is that the train line is inconvenient for the city.

ooh - thats important. tell me about the train line situation. FH is going to be working in the city...

My old boss lives in Glen Cove and I had to look up trains for him all the time and they practically never run in/out of there. I think he always had to go to Mineola maybe....it was def. another town he had to drive to just to get more frequent trains.

We looked at a few houses there, they were awful!!! Missing stairs, awful stench.... The towns are both really cute and quaint. Depending on where you live you can be North Shore School District where several of my friends went and said good things about it and Glen Cove, I know nothing about.

Since the Market is expected to come down more we're weighing the options. Neither one of us are handy or the do it yourself type, so we may give it another year to purchase . We're hoping we will get more for our money. We looked at an apt. complex, since we have out grown our current and Petey has become an issue It's right on Glen Cove Rd (aka Route 107) all the way north, (right across from the Metropolitian where we're getting hitched). Lovely building! Con- 107 is the only way i & out towards Hicksville Train Station where FH will most likely leave from. His office is in Manhattan but he has sites all over the 5 bouroughs so he needs the hub station.

Sorry Bon, I wrote a mini novel & shared way to much, hope it helps you tho

I know the building that you are talking about. They have an indoor movie theater, right? Very cool.

sorry crashing!

I grew up in Glen Head. It's very nice, a little pricey but that's Long Island. The North Shore school district is actually rated really well. The trains are a bit of a biatch. It's the Oyster Bay line, I commuted to the city for 1.5 years after college. It only ***** because you have to switch at Jamaica, but they're the cool double decker trains, if that helps any, lol. But, you are close enough to Manhasset (Port Washington line) that you can drive there and take the train in from there (although you can't park there)

It's also right next door to Sea Cliff, which is the cutest, New England-ish victorian town. It has gorgeous old homes and a great village.

Glen Cove has really nice sections and then just ok sections. The school isn't as great as North Shore..it's also a lot larger since Glen Cove is technically a city.

FM me if you want more details!!
