Glen Cove/Harrison House

Hello,
My FH and I are getting married at the Harrison House this summer. We've heard mixed reviews. Anyone got a word of advice. Our coordinator is Bill Kennedy. So far the service hasn't been great, and I'm scared! I'm wondering what other experiences out there are.....

Thanks so much!

We went to a wedding there this past June and everything was great. The service was amazing and the food was really good. Everything looked beautiful. You should do a search on Harrison House.

Thank you! I did do a search since you suggested it on the Harrison House, and it's helpful. Any further comments would be greatly appreciated though!

my nephew's christening was there and I thought everything was great. Food and service were excellent.

I think it is beautiful, however I did hear that they do not have a lot of food for the cocktail hour. I would have everything in the contract...have them write how many stations and what not...

I was at a wedding there, but it was about 2 years ago. I thought it was beautiful, food was great, and if I had to pick one thing that maybe wasn't perfect, I'd also have to say not enough food at the cocktail hour.

I don't know if you're having the actual ceremony there, but at the wedding I went to they got married on the back lawn, which was so beautiful. They also had the cocktail hour outside around the pool, and they had violin players strolling around. It was very romantic

I got your e-mail.

This is my vendor review from my January
Harrison House Review

We had about 60 guests stay overnight and it was awesome.
My only complaint about the accomodations was that they had the heat BLASTING and I was extremely hot. But they serve an amazing FREE breakfast buffet in the morning (even though I was told it was CONTINENTAL it was actually a full spread: bacon and eggs, waffles, assorted muffins, cereals, coffee, tea and juice) which was perfect after a heavy night of partying.

As far as cocktail hour. This was something my mother and I argues about for quite some time. The place isn't one of those catering halls that sets up an enormous smorgasboard of 10 food stations. But IMO, cocktail hour is not SUPPOSED to be mountains of food. It's supposed to be for finger food and hors d'oeurves so that guests can sip cocktails and mingle while they wait for dinner.

We had 3 stations and 8 passed trays. I wasn't at all bothered by this as I didn't want anyone to fill up before dinner and I've always been a bit grossed out by people sitting around at cocktail hour with huge plates of food prior to being served a full meal. There may have been guests complaining about the amount of food (those are guests that are used to places where they actually sit and have a 'mini-meal' before dinner) but I can assure you that NOBODY was complaining of hunger at the end of the night. Combined with dinner it was more than enough. Add that with the fact that 30% of our guests came in from the UK, where cocktail hour doesn't exist and they'd think we were bordering on gluttony.

It depends largely on what you want and the crowd you're having.

Anyway, I hope this was of some help to you. If you have anymore questions I'd be happy to answer them. FM me.

I was at a wedding there last spring, I almost booked it for my wedding. It was fabulous, my only complaint was the cocktail hour. It was cold so it was inside and they had it spread between 2 or three rooms. There were not enough seats and it was crowded. Other than that it was fantastic....
