Glen Island Brides

I want to start a thread with all Glen Island Brides. Has anyone been there for a food tasting yet? And comments on there house florists-Arcadia and Diana Gould .....?

Re: Glen Island Brides

We're working with Rocco and our food tasting was amazing. It almost convinced our families that we were right to spend so much money for the place

I met with a florist at Diana Gould (DG) and she was very friendly, very nice but some of the other women who worked there looked like they had a bit of an attitude problem. I decided not to go with them because although I very clearly described what I wanted and gave the florist pictures, my sample CP was very off base. I told her I didn't want any greenery at all and the CP looked like St. Patty's day They do have very pretty chair covers at DG though that are available to rent.

I met with Arcadia and the sample CP was exactly what I wanted! However, I've had some problems with unreturned phone calls (both from me and my wedding planner), getting new proposals much later than I was told I would, and I've gotten the feeling from the florist I'm working with that he didn't want to make a second appointment with me to discuss other flower options because I'm not getting married until July. I've heard that other girls (on the Knot) have had similar problems and they just ask to work with the owner, Sammy. So that might be an option.

Are any of you having your rehearsal dinner in Westchester? Any suggestions? We looked into MacMenamin's Grill but I can't justify spending $75pp for the RD.

I wasn't impressed at all with Diana Gould. I dealt with Daniel- Talk about not
returning phone calls! He
was horrible and so was my sample centerpeice. He chardged me double of what Arcadia is charging me per centerpeice. I am dealing with Sammi and he is awesome. Definately meet with him, he is great! He knew exactly what i wanted and he prices are very good compared to DG. I am not from Westchester so my RD will be near me in Douglaston.
I am also dealing with Rocco and I like him very much.

I'm not a Glen Island bride, but I do live in Westchester so I can give you some opinions. I think that Diana Gould is overpriced and since they're reputable, they tend to be a little snotty and take some creative liberty, even if it's clearly not what the bride wants. If I'm correct, they are also the house vendor for Tappan Hill. Arcadia is also on the pricey side (as opposed to some LI florists) but they're better. When my friend got married at Glen Island and went to Arcadia they told her it would be a minimum of $4 per bloom and she hadn't even told them what kind of flowers she wanted. She wound up going with something simple, because she didn't have a lot of $$ in her flower budget. As for RD, ther are tons of good restaurants in the are that are much less $$. I had a rehearsal brunch at Sam's of Gedney Way in White Plains. It went over great and it was $20 a person. I believe their dinner package was like $30. If you narrow down the area you're looking in, I can try to help.

I am a Glen Island Harbor Club bride also. I am working with Carlos there and he has been very very helpful and I also know Rocco to who is great. I haven't gone to the florists yet b/c i am an 06 bride, but will proably go soon. The only feedback i have on any the 2 florists is what the girls on here say and i have heard postive things about Arcadia...just really pricey. Which room is your recpetion?
Me and my FH went to a wedding there in may of 03 and fell in love with the place. That why we went there when it came time for us. I am never heard anything bad about it. The food was great and i service was wonderful. It is so nice.

BTW how did any of you go about scheduling a food tasting? When do they do that? We were just wondering about it.

Hi all
I just got married at Glen Island 2 weeks ago and all I can say is it was the most perfect day!! Everything went smoothly, and the people there are wonderful to work with
We used Arcadia for flowers..I cant say we have any real complaints, but they arent exactly over the top helpful. You do have to keep on top of them, and my mom wasnt thrilled with the flowers(too much yellow she says) but everyone said they were gorgeous.
We had our tasting last January. We called to set it up, and they gave us some dates to choose from.

If you have any other questions, please let me know!
