Glenmar Studios-What MUST be included in the package before you sign?
After my sisters insistance(due to the fact that her friend used them and it was 'the best album she ever saw') I went to see Glenmar studios work last night. Both myself as well as my father were extremely impressed by their work. We met with Barry (the owner of the studio) and he gave his best hard sales pitch. He is throwing in an engagement shoot, 2-3 rolls of black and whites, dvd, 2 parents albums (18 pictures each),1 for me with 36 pictures, 2 11x14, 2 8x6, 12 wallets, and proofs . What else should I ensure he puts in the package. I have heard that you have to negotiate the package upfront or else you wind up spending way more later. We have heard maybe a landscape shot. Any help would be great! I am just starting my Photographer 'tour' but we were SO empressed with Glenmar. They are quoting 4345 for everything.

Re: Glenmar Studios-What MUST be included in the package before you sign?
We are using Glenmar as well.. I think they use the same spiel on everyone..All of my friends used them, so we will as well-- plus my parents used them for my brother's bar mitzvah 20 years ago- and they were good then too..
Barry is a character with Barbara a close second..
I don't have my contract in front of me right now- but I do know that my contract is like 300 bucks more than yours.. I am sure there is a reason for that, but I really can't remember what else we got, as I was there a couple of months ago.. I'll FM you later tonight and give you the scoop. We also jst did our engagement pics last weekend, should get proofs in a week- I'll let you know how they turn out.

Re: Glenmar Studios-What MUST be included in the package before you sign?
I was a Glenmar bride and my proofs, pictures and albums are terrific. Barry and Barbara were great to work with too.I don't remember them throwing in very much. I ended up upgrading my album, so I paid about $700 more than my contracted prize, but in my opinion, it was well worth it.
I think my package included:
75 Thank You cards/pictures
Bride/Groom Album - 36 pics (I think)
2 Parent Albums - 18 pics each
1 11x13
2 8x10
Engagement shoot w/8x10 photo
2-3 rolls of black & white
I got them to throw in 4 pictures for the bridal party.
Good think about their proofs is that they don't say 'proof' on them, so you can go to places like Target or Walmart to make copies of these pictures.
I am very happy with all my pictures. I think I paid $3K for his package plus the upgraded album.

Also 1 more question....How many people are there actually...1 regular, 1 black and white photographer, and 1 videographer? Does the Black and white photgrapher do the photojournalism or is that separate?

One photographer and one assistant..I am having Barry start us off with some photojournalism, then Tom (I think) is doign the rest of the wedding-- They threw Barry in as we are repeat customers.

Re: Glenmar Studios-What MUST be included in the package before you sign?
Okay I am typing this from the contract directly..I have been told that this is what they offer Swan Club brides since they are the recommended photographer for them.1 24 picture 8x10 for us
2 12 picture 5x7 parent albums
1 11x14
2 8x10
50 Thanks yous
all proofs
Plus engagement shoot and 8x10
I then called and asked about black and whites and Barry said they would include a few 2/3 rolls
Total Cost $1995 plus tax
I am probably going to upgrade my album as well, so I have to figure that in at some point.
Based on what I am getting vs your package, you getting more pictures and a dvd, is the a CD with the pics on them? I called and asked what the price is and to have all the pictures put on CD was $250 I think he quoted you a bit on the high side..you should def try to get some extra's

Re: Glenmar Studios-What MUST be included in the package before you sign?
After researching for a while, Glenmar was one of the cheapest photographers. We have our engagement session booked next week or so. Did anyone else have theirs?
I am happy they don't write the word Proof on the front.
Sounds like you got a good deal. Ours is more money because we wanted more pictures. I think it all averages out.

Re: Glenmar Studios-What MUST be included in the package before you sign?
I was going to post Pookie's post. I was offered the same exact package as her. Much better deal than the $4300+ package you got quoted. But I chose 12th night... mainly cause Glenmar's 'sales pitch' actually turned me off. And that was from a $1995 quote. I couldn't even imagine what I would have said if I got quoted over four grand.

But wait... if I remember correctly when my FW first went in there before I got involved.. they quoted her in the 3k range.

Re: Glenmar Studios-What MUST be included in the package before you sign?
I am using Glenmar as well. I asked them to include 60 thank yous and 6 5x8 photos so that I could give a picture to each member of my bridal party. I found that you can't negiotate to lower the price - so you should negiotate to get the most you can.

Don't forget to have him include thank you pictures for the guests. Also what about the negatives and proofs. Also you will be feeding him and any assitance at them wedding. Check out if your hall charges for them to eat and how much.Welcome New Vendors
