Is there anyone in your life that you wish was in your bridal party, but is not?
Say a friend or a relative. Someone you wish was in it, but for whatever reason is not?

Re: GMB! I have a question for you!
all of my little cousins. I'm the oldest of 9.
If I have one, I have to have them all, INCLUDING FH's cousins, so we quickly scratched that from the list.

So, I was thinking on the way into work today about a friend of mine who didn't 'want' to be apart of another friends wedding - not because she didn't love her or anything but because she isn't really INTO bridal parties and she doesn't have tons of money to spend on all the activities, etc.
So, when I picked mine, I didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable and so I didn't ask her to be in mine.
But now I feel super weird - she's such a good friend, i hang out with her all the time i always feel that she should so be in it!!! but I feel like you have to respect people's feelings...you know?
I guess it's more exagerated in my head cause i have an uneven bridal party..tho it doesn't bother me to have that, i just think that i should just plop her right in there.

Good question.
I actually posted something about this same topic a while ago because I was contemplating on whether or not I should ask my friend Alexandria.. whom I lost contact with for about 2 years now, but have been close friends since the 2nd grade. I recently got in touch with her, and we made plans to one day meet up... I dont know whats going to happen when i see her.
I'll keep you ladies posted.

I hate to admit it, but I have the opposite situation - someone in the bridal party that I asked out of obligation. I have a feeling that this person may cause some unnecessary difficulty as my wedding approaches. You'll all hear about it if it happens, I'm sure!

If I could, I would probably ask my friend Cindy. I met her here at work and we became very close in a short period of time. Unfortunately, she's off in Iraq-she's a reservist Sgt. in the Army, so she's been hanging out in Abu Ghrahib prison!
At least, God willing, she will be home to attend the wedding.

Re: GMB! I have a question for you!
Mine's a little complicated, so I apologize for such a long story! I have 6 FSILs, three of which are married (two have two children each and one has one on the way). The other three are single and still live at home. I have three sisters of my own, so I have my three sisters and the three single FSILs. My FI picked his 3 BILs because he doesn't have any other brothers and his three closest cousins, and we have one of his nieces and his nephew as the FG and RB.
I wish I could have had all 6 of them in the party, but with their husbands on FI's side and their kids in the BP as well, I thought it would be too much to ask of them. But they will be involved with the ceremony in some way, either doing readings or bringing down the gifts. I stressed so much over this before asking as I'm close with all of them, I was so worried about it.

Re: GMB! I have a question for you!
My BP was uneven for a while and it really bothered me - so I asked another friend to be a BM. There isn't anyone else I would want in the bp.

I would avoid this if possible. Girlfriends come and go and you dont want her to constantly haunt your bro in all of your wedding pictures if it doesn't work out.

Re: GMB! I have a question for you!
I really wanted to ask my nine year old cousin to be my flower girl. Unfortunately, if I had done that then we would have had to ask FH's bratty seven year old cousins to be in the BP as well, and there was no way I was letting that happen. As it is, I'm hoping they won't come to the wedding at all!!
We also wanted to ask our four older cousins to be in the bridal party (two BMs, two GMs), but having four extra people in the bridal party is stretching our budget (bo-ks, attendant gifts) a bit too far.

Re: GMB! I have a question for you!
I wish i asked one of my friends... her wedding is saturday and i am not in hers, but she has many many sisters...and there just wasnt the room... BUT- I wanted a small BP and then after i thought about wanting to have her, it was too late cause the others were asked already...
Also- i wish i could have my little cousin be a pillowboy- but one sister is a jr bm and i didnt want two to be involved and leave the others out- and it would have caused some issues with other cousins... but he is to die for and i wish he were in it

Re: GMB! I have a question for you!
Initially I did. One of my sisters wasn't in my BP. I asked her a few weeks ago and now she's in it. I have one friend that I would like to have had, but I think 6 BMs is enough. I think I am going to ask her to do a reading at the wedding, so that she is still included.

Yes, my friend. We have been friends for a bit and met thru another friend. I didnt think about asking her since I already had asked 7 other girls and didnt want the BP to get larger or uneven. Well She asked me to be a BM in her wedding. I denied because of the time, effort and money put into being a BM and it comes w/responsibilites and I didnt want to let her down. She accepted the answer and then begged me to be in it. She also bumped up her wedding a yr and planned in 8 months. So timing was kind of not the greatest. I accepted.
Shes a good friend and I guess I didnt look at it that way and was honored she asked. I wish I did ask her but I do have more girls than I anticipated and will most likely ask her to be a reader and part of our special day.

A good friend of mine. I didn't ask her because I know her and her DH are saving to buy a house and as it is are really sacrificing to do this. I didn't want to be an added financial burden so I think I may ask her to do a reading instead.

Re: GMB! I have a question for you!
Oh do I ever!!! I have someone who I think I should've asked, but didn't want to, but now FH is adding ANOTHER GM... he's incouragable! (sp...???) So I might.. but I feel bad asking after the other girls already were asked, and their dresses are on order... don't know what to do.
THen.. I have one that I HAD to have out of obligation to FH.. (Kristen can fill you in on this charming gal.. ) And I have regretted asking since day one. Nothing but problems, but I am grinning and bearing it all the way down the aisle..

Actually I have asked everyone to be in my bridal party that I really wanted...Of course, now that 1 of my nephews is born & the other one the way, I would love to have them! but they are still too little
