Going around to tables.....

Going around to tables.....

Is everyone going around to each table at the wedding? If so, how much time do you spend at each table? I think I might end up with 18 tables....seems like it could take a while to do this.

Also- we are not going to our cocktail hour.

Yes it is appropriate to go around to all tables. Im going to try and be quick.. say a brief hello and thank you and get out of there!! Sounds bad but I want to dance!!!!

ITA. i think it is the right thing to do, go around and say hello, thank people for coming and then bounce to the next table. 5 min tops , so this way you can dance !

We are going to say a little speech, a simple but meaningful 'Thank You' at the reception, I think its more appropriate in our case since we will also be at the cocktail hour also spending time with our guests.I'd much rather do this because It would be a lot of time spent walking around to each table, something different.

Yes, we're going to. We will be at CH but we plan to go to each table anyway. We'll spend a few minutes at each table, not too long. It doesn't seem polite not to...JMO!!!!!!

we went around to the tables but we did ours during coctail hour so it wouldnt take away from the rest of our time, we have 14 table we spent just a few minutes at each table

Well be at the cocktail hour too, but also plan on going table to table. I know some people will grab our ears but hopefully we can make it 5 mins per table.

Married girls who did this, how long did it REALLY take to go to each table? I have a feeling this will go on all night. We are inviting 225 people..

We'll be at the cocktial hour too, but for the record I just went to a wedding where the bride was not at cocktail hour and they didn't come around to the tables and no one seemed to notice.

i went to as many tables as I could- by the time I wanted to go to more tables fh was no where to be found and we got sidetracked- i did my best to say hello and thank as many people in passing it wasnt meant intentionally to anyone if i missed them nor did anyone seem upset i say aim to go to all the tables if you can people move around a lot so you may not get everyone

We did this. We sat down and ate some of our dinner and then got up while everyone was still eating. So no one kept us too long. We had 13 or 14 tables and Id say it took like 20 minutes- but Im not sure- we had no concept of time!

we're not going to your CH and will be going around to the tables. We're going t have 18-20 tables so we have to make it brief at each table. We've agreed not more than 5 min.

Honestly i would make your hellos as short as possible. we did ours at the CH, but i know that isn't an option for some. If you have 10 tables and spend 5 minutes with each, thats almost an hour. I would just quickly go around while people are eating and ask if they are enjoying themselves and thank you so much for coming. Everyone wants to see you have a good time, i don't think people expect you to spend too much time with them. If people wanted to hang out with me at the reception then they had to go to the dance floor!

We tried to get to as many tables as we could - everyone was pulling us in different directions. But we did say hi to alot of people at the CH so that was good.

We said hello to most of our guests at the CH, but still had intentions of going around during the reception. Well, we only made it to 2 tables! Seriously every time we would get up a walk over to a table, someone was pulling us in the other direction! Either the DJ wanted us to get ready for the speeches or cake, etc. or the bridal attendant wanted us to sit for the next course. It's just REALLY hard to do!!!

yeah we went around to every table, we had 22 tables. Its something that guests expect you to do and a nice gesture to say hello to guests that came to celebrate your day.

Its up to you how long it will take, you can do this very fast or it can take a long time. Talk to your FH ahead of time and come up with a plan, set an amount of time to stay at each table. Say no more than 5 mins or something of that sort but stick to it. My Dh had a bad habit of stopping and talking forever and then i was put in a position to try and pull him away, but mine can talk thats for sure so had to deal with that. He finally got the point. But do it in the beginning to get it out of the way and then enjoy the rest of the night
