going back & forth w/favors & donation

i'm thinking about still doing the donation as well, it would be smaller since i'm doing a favor too, but yes i still want to do the donation b/c it will be in FH's mothers name she passed away, next sept. it will be 10yrs

and yes i will do the white tulle bags with a purple ribbon since purple is our color scheme

thank you, it stinks b/c i never met her, but everyone says she would've loved me which does make me feel really good!

i think the candle thing might just work!

You could always do both if its within your budget.

We did a donation and got a lot of compliments from our guests. We didnt do any favors with it.

We're doing the donation in the names of the guests so they are leaving with something! Feeling like they did a good deed that day, and I don't mean attending my wedding, lol. I just feel like all the favors I was looking at (and the ones we can actually afford) were so useless. Instead of people just throwing out their favors when they get home, or forgetting to take them, we decided on a donation.

Have you looked at wording for the donations? There were a few samples that said 'in loving memory of (person's name here)'. Then they would definitely know who it was for. Here is the link to the different wording samples I found, in case you wanted to look

Kristi, first of all, I've heard you're a hell of a seamstress and might be able to make me a gown??

Second, I dunno, so the candles would have an initial on them... but your guests are going to take them home, and it wont be THEIR initial. How likely would they be, then, to use them? Or display them? Just a thought.

you tell me when and where and me and my 'supplies' will be there, just give me a few hours notice so i have time to run to bj's to pick up my 'supplies' in bulk!

i never thought about that intial thing, you're totally right. i'm thinking maybe the donation and maybe a hershey bar in those personalized wrappers could be a better way to go. who can't use a hersey bar ya know? maybe i'll throw some doves on the tables!
