FINALLY!!! After 9 months of being engaged....I'm finally going dress shopping for the FIRST TIME!!! I'm soooo excited.
My mom is coming up from Florida for Turkey Day and we are going shopping the day after!! Unfortunately, this may be the only gown shopping trip I get to go on with my mom cause she lives so far away
So... anything I need to know girls? Anything I should bring? Questions I should ask?

Shave Shave Shave!!! I wore the biggest sweater I had, they couldn't measure me in it so the girl and I went into the dressing room and she did it with my bra on, so either wear a tank or t-shirt for measurement if you are uncomfy with the bra show. Bring a camera and write down style numbers and designers. Make appointments before you go or be prepared to wait. Be open minded, just try on the dress. Have fun and try not to fight with your mom.

I agree with Nora...keep an open mind and be sure to try on some dresses that you normally 'think' you wouldn't like...because you never know...it could be the one!!!
That's how I found mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good Luck!

Sounds like the best advice I've heard so far. LOL!!!
If you are like my daughter and I, you'll want to get to as many stores as you can. Wear comfy shoes and take water and a camera, just in case. They won't let you photograph any dresses until you place an order, but you never know. Your cell phone will come in handy if you can't find a particular store, or if you are running late for an appt. Try on every imaginable style, but don't let them push you too far out of your price range. You don't want to fall in love with a gown they pulled off the manekin and costs more than your reception.
Try to plan a little down time in the middle of the day for lunch and to get your perspective on what you've seen. Try to keep detailed notes each time you leave a store.
Good luck. You won't want the day to end...and I know your Mom won't either. It's by far the best experience the two of you can share. Enjoy!

Bring water with you! All that trying on gets you very thirsty Also wear nice underware that you wouldn't mind other people seeing. Have tons of fun and lots of luck!

Re: Going dress shopping....
Bring some snacks too - like pretzles or at least a mint. Getting in and out of those dresses (while being super excited!) is really draining!
Someone gave me this tip, as you try on dresses, always have your '1st Place Dress' in mind. This way, it will be easy to compare dresses, and to keep track of what you like. (Instead of comparing 10+ dresses to each other, you're just comparing one dress at a time to your '1st Place Dress,' until a new one takes its place.)
Also, try to keep in mind what you like about the dresses that you try on, like a particular waistline, neckline, sillohuete, etc. Adding up all of those ingredients will help you find your dream dress!
And most of all - HAVE FUN!!!!! (And report back!)
