I was just wondering though, how many appointments should I make for one day. How long do you usually spend at one shop. On average that is!

Re: Going dress shopping soon... YAY!!
i made two or three depending on the day! But you cannot really estimate how long you will be at each place! I would just do one!

Wow!! Two hours?? Ok. I guess I'll only schedule two appointments. It's hard, my sister (MOH) lives in CT so I have to try to schedule as many as possible in a day.

I would space them out a bit! B/C if you find the 'one' you will try it on over an over again!

I only did one per day! I spent anywhere from 1-3 hours at each place! I finally ordered today!! Good Luck!

Re: Going dress shopping soon... YAY!!
Hi Ladies,
I haven't even started yet. Any suggestions on where to go first? I live in Suffolk county and what are the best places for alterations, service, price etc. The only place I know of really is Adrienne's in Islip on main street. Anybody have any info on the place?
Thanks!!!!

2 places I have been to in Suffolk that I really liked so far is Bridal Suite of Bayshore and Bridal Suite of Centereach. Both had really nice staff and a great selection. If my BMs weren't all over the place, I would get my BM dresses at one of these places.
I've heard good things about Adrienne's. The only one I've heard bad things about is the Wedding Center of Commack.

Also forgot to mention, don't schedule more than 2 salons a day. Believe it or not, trying on dresses can get exhausting!! Those dresses weigh a lot, and you end up sweating under the lights!!

I was also going to recommend Bay Shore Bridal Suite - its where I got my dress.
And Janna is right, I wouldn't do more than 2 salons in a day - it's tiresome and OVERWHELMING...oh, and I forgot TONS OF FUN!!

Re: Going dress shopping soon... YAY!!
really, I was in a wedding June 2000 and the bride got her dress at Bridal Suite of Bay Shore and we all got our dresses there too. I found that they were expensive, a little rude and the alterations were HORRIBLE. I have never been to the one in Centereach (pass it a lot) but I assume it is owned by the same people.
For my BMs wedding we got our dresses at Adriennes and they were really good but I don't know anyone who got their gown there so I wasn't sure.
Has anyone been to Kleinfeld's in Brooklyn? I want to go just for the experience but I could never afford their stuff!!!
Oh yeah, I heard bad things about Wedding World in Commack also.

1 or 2 places in 1 day. You don't want to overwhelm yourself. You don't want to get confused. This is suppose to be fun not stressful.
I got my dress at Bridal Suite of Bayshore too. Ask for Maryellen. She's great. She knew the perfect dress for me. It was the 1st one I tried on and the one I picked! She helped me out a lot.
Have fun!

Re: Going dress shopping soon... YAY!!
Don't confuse Wedding World and Wedding Center of Commack....they're actually 2 different salons, although they are right next to each other. Wedding Center is not recommended....Wedding World is smaller, but better.
Also I don't think that the Bridal Suite of Bayshore and the Bridal Suite of Centereach are the same owners. There are a lot of shops all over LI and the city that name starts with Bridal Suite, but it doesn't mean they're the same owners!! (This includes the infamous Bridal Suite of Patchogue)
Which reminds me....another reason to steer clear of the Wedding Center of Commack....not only are they dealing with brides that have ordered gowns from them, they are also dealing with brides who were dealing with the Bridal Suite of Patchogue before they closed. So I can only imagine that the service will probably suffer even more due to the extra business.

Also forgot to mention...
Kleinfelds in Brooklyn is closed. They only have the Manhattan location now.

Re: Going dress shopping soon... YAY!!
oh m'gosh, that is so sad that Kleinfeld's in Brooklyn is closed. I grew up in Brooklyn and lived nearby, I always dreamed of going there when i got married
Thanks for the info and the clarification.
I will check out the Bridal Suite of Bay Shore, it is easier because it is sooooo close to my moms. After the one bad experience I assumed that was just how they were. Thanks for the insight.
Any other suggestions for great places?

I agree! Even two in a day can be very draining. Best of luck to you! I am shopping now too.
